Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

My life has changed for the better since working with StepChange. I cannot explain how much weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I have a clear manageable plan. Best thing we ever done. Went from not knowing where to turn to feeling in control. Took a long time to pay back our debt but we did it and I’m proud of that. I went from feeling stressed and at my wits end to being so relaxed it's unbelievable. All the crap letters and phone calls stopped except for capital one who winge every month just cause they feel they can but to be fair I know not to worry about it as I know they've agreed to a payment plan.
