Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

So understanding and helpful.

Less stress and more reassurance

I have a DMP arranged through Stepchange. It was a relief to make a single payment towards all my debts. The downside is it feels like it will be a long time before these are paid off and I still get letters from creditors which put me in to panic mode. Fantastic people.

Fantastic people. They only want to help. No judgement, no awkward questions. Just be 100% honest with them and they will be 100% honest with you. I got into terrible trouble and only wish I would have contacted them earlier. Don’t be afraid, do it now. You will learn to relax again and get a good nights sleep. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

Following a very difficult period financially and personally for both myself and my wife, StepChange have been supportive, professional and non-judgemental throughout the entire process. From the first conversation, they took the time to properly understand our circumstances, explain the available options clearly and allow us the space to make informed decisions without pressure. What initially felt completely overwhelming became far more manageable once we had their guidance and support.
