Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I found myself in a terrible financial situation aft...

I found myself in a terrible financial situation after being scammed out of over £100,000 which I had taken as equity release. I could not fulfil all my financial commitments and was in despair. I was recommended to contact StepChange by Citizens Advice. They did not judge me and helped me to collate my debts and presented my situation to all my debtors. By doing so a plan was put in place after my living expenses were deducted. This enabled me to start paying off my debts with a plan in place and moreover they were instrumental in dealing directly with all my debtors. They are also a charity so do not charge fees. Step change have made such a difference to my life

Step change have made such a difference to my life. Fab support to get me back on track and face up to what wasn't going away and became out of control. Wished I had picked up the phone so much sooner to address my debt. I was never made to feel the bad person I thought I was for getting into such a rutt. The support I received from the very first call was excellent. Process was very straight forward, advice was clear and informative. Felt fully supported and can't thank step change for taking away so much stress enough. Since been on the plan I am back in control and managing well with the plan I have in place. To get 5 star support in a non judgemental and supportive service contact step change honestly the make such a difference. Don't be like me and regret not contacting them sooner. Where to start. Every representative who answers my every call was so helpful, calm and very supportive. They allowed me to be vulnerable, cry my eyes out and gave me an ear to talk about my circumstances unrelated to debt. I’m so happy that I will be supported right up until I’m debt free. Stet Change Saved My Mental Health

When I came to StepChange a few years ago, I was in desperate need of help with my finances. Debt collectors were calling daily, and I didn't know where to turn. I tried using Citizens Advice, but found the process lengthy, requiring multiple visits with a folder full of letters. I discovered StepChange Debt Charity through the MoneySavingExpert website and decided to give them a call. After speaking with a very helpful advisor, I ended the call feeling a real sense of relief, a heavy weight lifted from my shoulders.
