Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Couldn't as for more help

Excellent service

I was struggling with nearly £18000 of debt but in 2022 stepchange started to manage my debts for me and now I only have a year left of payments to be debt free. It’s all managed online and free of charge . It’s an excellent service Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

I was so nervous about contacting Stepchange for help but they were so helpful and friendly, they want to make sure you have enough money for all your everyday needs before you allocate anything to debts. Stepchange saved my life

Stepchange saved my life as i was in despair, scared and stressed. They helped me get organised and still made it affordable so i could live. They contacted all the companies i owed money to and negotiated the payment plan, i feel.more in control and i know I have an end date to becoming debt free.
