Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I have been with Step Change (formerly the CCVS) for...

I have been with Step Change (formerly the CCVS) for many many yrs. Under both names they have been Extremely Helpful in hey me get on top of my debts. Which were considerable!!! Now I have only a couple of yrs and I’m debt free they arranged through a debt management plan an affordable monthly payment. And my creditor are happy Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

So so helpful.

Before I entered a debt management plan, I was drowning in interest rates very stressed out about my future. I found it so hard to stay on top of my debts and had no spare money at all each month. I live in London and cost of living is high, I had a few emergencies which meant getting a loan and using some credit cards. Step change helped me navigate the whole process, and though my credit score has plummeted, for now that is fine as I'm lucky enough to own property. In one year, I've been able to pay off £4k and I feel so much more positive about my future. I look forward to a debt free 2029. Although the debt still feels very present, I am able to tackle it but by bit and can see the total reducing which is so motivating. I was getting desperate with my financial situation...

I was getting desperate with my financial situation when a friend suggested that I contact StepChange: Debt Management. Everyone I spoke with at StepChange was caring and understanding, and they were able to sort out a payment regime with my Creditors to ensure my debts were being paid and I had sufficient to live on.
