Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Financial breathing space

StepChange helped me rearrange my debts that I was losing control of and losing sleep over and I was on the brink of total colapse, to manageable one monthly payment which is then paid in chunks to the institutions I owed money. They have given me back control and given me back my life. I can breathe and slowly coming out of dept and will soon be able to start real savings for a rainy day and for the future. Life changing.

Life changing

I am so grateful I finally found StepChange, I wish it had been earlier but all that matters is that I did. I could t see a way out of my situation and the weight of it was taking its toll. It was nothing more than a chance encounter I became aware. The process from start to finish was extremely straightforward, not judgemental and supportive. They have supported me in being able to provide a plan that ensures I pay of all my debt in a way that allows significant relief of the extreme pressure I was feeling.
