Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Don’t hesitate, help is a message away

Making a call when you’re struggling is the hardest thing to do. Step Change have online options too. Which makes it so much easier to make that first step. And once you do the Support and communication is second to none. If you’re struggling, take the first step and get in touch with Step Change. Debt Management Plan - can see an end

I have been on a Debt Management Plan with StepChange for 6 months. I’d reached a point where I was paying a large amount every month towards credit card debts, but not actually paying much off the balance and I felt overwhelmed that I would be in debt forever. I looked into options for debt consolidation but then found StepChange and saw that they could help implement a plan which would leave me debt free in the near future. I didn’t want to speak on the phone so I completed a budget online which was easy and provided creditors details. StepChange then contacted everyone for me and agreed the plan. I feel like I am actually paying off debts now and can see balances going down which is a weight lifted for me Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

The best!

I joined stepchange in Jan 2020 during Covid to try and get in top of my bills, and they have helped me sort my life out and get on track! They are all ways supportive I have never felt judged and they do not pressure you to commit to high monthly payments, only what you can afford. Undoubtedly, the best help available.

I was literally suicidal at times until I discovered step change who basically took charge of everything for me all in one affordable monthly payment meaning I didn’t have to have pretty much any contact with any of my creditors/debters. I pay a direct debit each month to StepChange who distribute it amongst all my outstanding debt and I don’t have to deal with anyone except them. I have had a month or 2 in the past 3 years where I couldn’t pay for that specific month so they paused my direct debit and I didn’t hear from any of my creditors and resumed as normal the following month after being told to inform my creditors but also ignore correspondence as it would be sorted, which it was by the wonderful people that work for StepChange.
