Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

DMP with Stepchange - excellent service and aftercare

Entered a Debt Management Plan via Stepchange after drowning in loans and credit cards. They gave me a way out, and a manageable plan based on my salary, that meant bills were covered, and I also had enough of a buffer left to cover other things. It was quick, easy, the people were really friendly and supportive. After care has also bee fantastic. I would recommend them for anyone and don't be afraid to approach them, or go via their online registration and budgeting tool. They have taken all the pressure away, and letters from creditors have stopped coming now except annual statements. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Lifesaving company.

Saved my life literally, no more constantly waking in the night thinking how can I pay this creditor and that one as not enough money coming in, now step change pay my direct debit straight to creditors no more worrying for me. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

From start to finish StepChange have been outstanding in understanding my situation and sorting a payment plan out I only wish I had approached them earlier and it would have stopped all the stress I put myself through Don’t hesitate even if you are nervous like I was it’s just such a relief to have someone understand and help . Step Change Is Free, Easy, Informative

Any one in financial difficulty should contact Step Change. It is free, knowledgeable and so easy. They consolidate your debts and give you one payment. On their end they contact your debtors and tell them to contact Step Change in future. If you receive any further letters from then you contact Step Change. I also was told that one debt were sending debt recovery teams to my home and Step Change helped to avoid that happening. As I said it is completely free and easy to do. It takes time to pay off the debts but I’m only paying the debt. Step Change stopped the debt being increased with interest. I would’t go with anyone else. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

I was sinking in a sea of debt ,...

Before I chose to resolve my debts with Stepchange, I felt like I was sinking in a sea of debt. Also, people seem to have a problem with the word “debt” , it’s almost like you’ve committed a crime. However, it is not like that at all with Stepchange, you’re not single out, you don’t feel stigmatised, you’re just provided the help you need to straighten up your finances.
