Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I wish that I had known about step change earlier,

Large debt

Professional, understanding, empathetic.

Professional, very understanding and empathetic about my situation, non-judgmental and excellent at listening. Really helped to reduce level of shame and stigma around financial issues and eased a lot of stress and anxiety and made things more manageable. I am closer to being debt free.

I am closer to being debt free. No more headaches and sleepless nights wondering if i could even afford to eat at times. From the very beginning, staff at StepChange were empathetic, helped me through everything, all i had to do was contact my debtors and let them know. I was working when i first started, since then i have not worked and again was worried, but they understood and we worked out a plan. I owe them my life, i have my sanity back.
