Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Get your life back

We were in debt and didn't know what to do,sleepless nights and a lot of worring, so after a long time we couldn't take anymore I went online to stepchange and they sorted everything out and took a lot of our shoulders,I would definitely recommend them and get your life back. The best thing to do if you feel buried in debt.

The best thing to do if you feel buried in debt and cannot see a way out is to get real help - Stepchange provided the forms to help me budget and fully assess my finances and came up with a plan to pay everything off within 4 years, contact all creditors on my behalf and get a plan agreed by all of them. With annual reviews and statements, I'm always up to date and managing everything again. One and a half years into the plan, £16k of debt is down to £9.2k and looking forward to being debt free, an outcome I never thought possible. The staff are friendly, honest and realistic in all their dealings and I can't recommend them highly enough. When I contacted Stepchange and set up a plan my whole perspective changed for the better - it literally changed my life. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Massive weight from shoulders

Fantastic service who’ve been a massive help in tackling my debt situation. My mental health was incredibly brittle when I lost my job and my debt got out of control but a payment plan was set up quickly and things are looking a lot more positive for the future. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Stepchange have given me my life back.

Stepchange have given me my life back. Without step change I’d be so much worse off. I didn’t see a way out and by the end of the year I’ll be debt free which is an amazing feeling.
