Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I can’t thank StepChange enough.

I can’t thank StepChange enough for the support they gave me at one of the lowest points in my life. After losing a well-paid job just as I’d started a new chapter with my family, everything quickly spiralled out of control. What had once been manageable debt suddenly became overwhelming, and the pressure took a serious toll on my mental health. It felt like everything was collapsing at once. Reaching out to StepChange was a turning point. They treated me with understanding, not judgment, and helped me make sense of what felt like an impossible situation. Their calm, practical advice brought order back into the chaos and gave me a clear path forward. With their help, things gradually stabilised. I’ve been able to start rebuilding my life, get back on my feet (even if it’s still a work in progress), and most importantly, reconnect with my family. My mental health has improved massively, and I finally feel like myself again. StepChange didn’t just help me manage my debt, they helped me regain control of my life. Was scammed and was spiralling out of control because I trusted someone which left me with a huge debt. I was depressed and struggling with life because I was in my sixties .One of the companies that I owed the money too suggested stepchange so I got in touch , I spoke to a loverly woman who reassured me that things would get better and they would help set up a debt management plan.The pressure that I had put on myself lifted and ok im still paying the debt off but stepchange change a bad situation in to something livable Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Life changing

I really can't put into any words how much they have helped me, I had buried my head so far in the sand it was having a detrimental effect on my everyday life.
