Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Help at the right time

I felt I was loosing my grip on our finances after s...

I felt I was loosing my grip on our finances after suffering four major setbacks in a row. Panic doesn’t go far enough to explain how I felt. Then I talked to Stepchange and everything changed, they helped with friendly, non judgemental, advice and support. Suddenly we were in calmer waters, the “switching off” of the constant creditor phone calls and letters gave me time to workout a sensible budget with Stepchange and to feel I was taking back control. I dread to think what would have happened if we hadn’t found Stepchange, I couldn’t have managed without them. I urge anyone who feels their finances are getting out of control to contact Stepchange, it could be the best thing you do this year. To Stepchange… a very sincere thank for all that you do.
