Lockdown crippled me financially, but

Lockdown crippled me financially. Lost my job and was denied ANY help from the government. I was fortunate enough to get out loans and credit cards (not knowing how long we’d be in lockdown for) and quickly maxed them out. By the time I’d gotten back into work I had amassed a HUGE amount of debt. I was trying to pay it off but getting absolutely nowhere. Not even sure how I came across or how I heard about Step Change but I bit the bullet and got in contact. Not even joking, it has been one of the most beneficial decisions I’ve ever made. The people I’ve spoken to and the help they’ve given me has been life changing and life saving. I can’t even put into words how grateful I am that these people are here and for the help they’ve given me. I was in the most darkest place mentally, I couldn’t afford to eat, I couldn’t afford to get to work. I couldn't sleep. I couldn’t see a way out, except through one route….i was at work when I called them. That day I spoke to them and when my payment plan was set up, I felt like a new person. I sat at work, tears in my eyes. Knowing that after everything, I was getting some help and everything would be okay…this company literally saved my life and for that I will be eternally grateful. Stepchange have helped with my financial situation a...

Stepchange have helped with my financial situation and have been sympathetic in my dealings with them. When I have been unable to make my monthly contribution on time Stepchange have helped me by waiting until my funds have reached my account. This has taken a lot of stress away from me, which I am very grateful for. Reviewed on: 26th June 2025

Great Support

When a friend first told me about Step Change, I was reluctant and embarrassed to call them, but when I made the call, the support I received was fantastic, they made me feel at ease and all the embarrassment I had disappeared. My DMP was setup and while on the DMP, I was able to adjust to suit my financial circumstances. Never set there worrying about your debts, when Step Change is there to help. I was in a financial nightmare.

I was in a financial nightmare. I couldn’t keep up with the minimum payments on credit cards and a loan. Every month was a worry and I was only paying the interest. I had heard about Stepchange online. Rang them and they set out a plan to pay my debts at a rate l can manage. They did all work-got in touch with my debtors and arranged it all. I feel so much better, they stay informed from them and review my plan so l know how much and long I have to pay my debt back, at a rate I can manage. Reviewed on: 23rd June 2025
