A lifeline for those in debt

After losing my job in 2019 during the pandemic, I was not able to meet my monthly credit card and personal loan debt obligations. As a result I was being hounded by creditors and debt collection agencies. I approached Step Change, who contacted my creditors, arranged an interest freeze on my debt, and negotiated affordable monthly repayments on my behalf. Debt free for the first time in nearly 20yrs!

I was left with a lot of debt following the break up of a previous relationship. For many a year I struggled to make my regular payments until I had to concede I needed help. A quick google check pointed me towards Stepchange. They quickly helped reduce the stress I was feeling in trying to manage my poor financial situation by being supportive and available with advice. They also gave me solutions to overcome my situation. I have been using Stepchange continually now for more than 5yrs. Initially, I was predicted to clear my debt in 2063, when I would be 90yrs old! But overtime, through the advice and support I was given, I learnt to manage my finances better and increase my monthly payments to the point that I will be completely debt free by the summer of 2025.
