I turned to step change in 2020 my marriage had bro...

I turned to step change in 2020 my marriage had broken down , and I was left with a lot of debts so I owed about 16000, at the time, iv been able to put all my debts as one payment, so far iv payed just over 6,000 pounds in the last 5 years I'm glad I did turn to step change, they have helped me sort out my debts and now iv been able to sleep at night Reviewed on: 24th May 2025

My life is better due to Stepchange

My words will never convey sufficiently the gratitude I have for Step Change. The initial support to put my payment plan in place was fantastic and helped me have the confidence to identify all my debt and overcome the associated fear to put action in to resolve it. The process was simple and the member of the Step Change team that supported me throughout was kind and compassionate. On-going, the manageable monthly payment is made and by December this year, I will be debt free. Best of all, I didn’t have to pay anything for the service and support which I received. A wonderful Organisation

Beautiful caring people

My mortgage is about to double. I'm on a debt management plan, which has been a life saver. I rang a wonderfully helpful lady. Halfway through the conversation, I explained if I sounded a bit confused etc. It's probably because my brother passed away a month ago and my wife had a positive cancer diagnosis the day before. This mortgage doubling was just adding to my stress and worry. Not only did she advise me about the help stepchange could give me. She went out of her day to offer me comfort, support and empathy. She found me contact numbers for Macmillan and a bereavement counselling service. By now I'm sobbing, like ugly snot bubble crying. Not a good look for anyone let alone a 53 year old man. Great support

Peace of mind

Very easy to set up online, also good telephone support wish I had not left it so long to apply. Have had no contact with creditors except statements so no phone calls chasing me. Reviewed on: 8th July 2023

Wish I had contacted them sooner.

I was able to pay my debts like credit card/catalogues but then the cost of living became ridiculous so it was a choice of feeding my children or paying my debts. Obviously my children came first. I was worried out of my mind how I was going to pay my debts but I was informed about step change so went online completed the forms and everything was sorted. All the worry was gone. Amazing charity

StepChange have been instrumental in getting my fianances back on track and I think everyone should know about them. Before I knew about them, I'd have gone to a debt consolidation loan.
