Review of the Vitality, Health Insurance:

Avoid at all cost, better Health Companies out there!!

My Company decided to give it a go and enroll this year with Vitality, for the past 15 years we used mainly Axa ppp and other providers such Bupa. These big companies are expensive however they take the stress away in terms of approving claims or consultations. Never had problems in the past. Unfortunately for me Vitality so far only offered a poor service. As other reviewers mentioned the amount informations requested plus involving GP on obtain records only elongate the process; reason why people use Private health insurance is to actually avoid these long wait to see a GP and been referred as soon as possible.Just so you know if you ask your Gp to fill up the records forms it will take up to 4 weeks and also you have to pay a fee to your surgery. So you might be quicker booking an appointment with your Gp than fill these forms !!! The frustrating part is the fact we took the full package from vitality and covering also existing condition however at the time of the switch you must forecast if you might have present conditions that might develop into something that requires additional consultations, basically they will do everything in their power to avoid claims!! So to everyone thinking to switch to Vitality ]bear in mind that you might encounter issue when making a claim. By the way my referral was approved by Vitality online GP and still wants more informations by my Gp, Definitely no worth the stress on taking a cheaper Company which only interest is on saving money. Diabolical, keep away at all costs!!!

Firstly, as soon as I signed up, the promised rewards that they advertise heavily, such as free coffee, cinema tickets etc were removed and no longer available for my plan. The devices that they offer a discount for are also impossible to obtain - the site just won't allow to process due to technical errors and they refuse to process this over the phone. Secondly, they premiums increase by massive amounts, which isn't sustainable to remain a customer long term. There is no chance of negotiations either. Thirdly, the app rarely works. If you are lucky enough to log in once in a while, you will then have to chase their team to get your activity points added manually. This process takes ages due to careless and incompetent staff. And lastly, they offer an incentive that appears to be a particularly evil scam. You're meant to get a reduction of your premium if you achieve gold status with your activity points which does take a lot of effort. Guess what - 100s of people on Reddit are reporting that they could no longer see any activity on their app right before they collected enough points to get to the gold status. At this stage vitality stop getting back to you until the price is increased and they state that they can't reduce the price retrospectively or verify that you have indeed collected enough points in time for the renewal. This is exactly what happened to me and I will not be staying with Vitality. I've been lucky enough with my health and have never made a claim, but there is no shortage of verified horror stories from people that did try to make a claim. If they can't keep their app working hire knowledge staff, I fear everything else would also be too hard. I highly recommend that you get a quote from other companies and do not get blind sided by all the fake reward schemes that vitality keep pushing. And speaking to their customer service could negatively impact your health anyway. Reviewed on: 29th January 2022

APPALING SERVICE

I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH OSTEO ARTHRITIS IN BOTH KNEES..i WISH TO HAVE A LESS INVASIVE PROCEDURE (A SCRAPE RATHER THAN A NEW KNEE--THINK ANDY MURRAY) .THE SURGEON THAT SPECIALISES IN THIS TREATMENT IS NOT ON THE VITALITY LIST--I HAVE BEEN OFFERED FOUR SURGEONS NONE OF WHOM IS A SPECIALIST KNEE SURGEON. I HAVE OFFERED TO KMAKE UP ANY SHORTFALLIN COST--THIS HAS BEEN REFUSED. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE OF DEALING WITH VITALITY HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE I WAS NUMBER 32, THEN 35 AND THEN 38 IN THE QUEUE WHEN I CALLED, NO INDIVIDUAL HAS A TELEPHONE NUMBER, E-MAIL REPLIES COME FROM A "TEMA" BUT NEVER THE SAME PERSON. I WILL BE CANCELLING MY SUBSCRIPTION-A SHAME BECAUSE THE ADVERTISING IS VERY SEDUCTIVE. IT IS JUST THAT THE SERVICE IS APPALLING. Reviewed on: 13th January 2022

Doubled premiums over two years

We have had this insurance for two years and had one claim, for minor back surgery, because the invoices for the claim fell into two of their cover periods (October to October) they increased our premiums each year by 23%. An absolute scam, as they effectively made one claim into two claims. Reviewed on: 5th January 2022

Outrageous customer service

Communication with Vitality is a nightmare. Extremely poor customer service. Nobody answers the emails, and being waiting on phone over 1 hour is a joke. The care hub is useless too, so you have to be on the phone to get trough to customer service every time you need get any information or authorisation to proceed with treatment required by specialist. Put my payments for reimbursement on hold as they are stupid, different computer systems and teams do not communicate. You have to call the same number and can pushed across three teams of half wits, each of whom are rude and obtuse - seeking to make you ‘not bother’ so they can keep the money and pay out. Legal way to scam you when you are most vulnerable

I had this insurance for 2 years and it was completely useless. evetime they either rejected the claim or made so much hassle for me to submit it that it was impossible to do. It has cost me more money just to make the claims that were later rejected than what they ever paid for anything. And it has cost me 10x over what I would have paid If I just went to private practice and payed from pocket. It is just a bunch of idiots calling each other and pretending that they are providing a service. Complete scam, stay away, do not get swayed by their marketing sales reps, they are completely miss representing the claim process and make it look like you can actually get something out of this. Do not take out life insurance with this company

Vitality_UK your handling of claims and medical knowledge of your assessing team is completly imcompetent - My advice to others - DO NOT TAKE OUT LIFE INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY - My dad passed away and this company are doing everything possible to avoid paying a relatively straight forward claim. I now have to get solicitors and the financial ombudsman involved. They are great and helpful when getting you signed up but this is exactly the opposite when you need to make a claim. My dad trusted this company and they have let him down - if you want to protect your family by taking out life insurance then do not get involved with this company - your family deserve better than the complete incompetency of this company. Awful company

Do not go with Vitality. They do not cover anything. They do not respond if you call or if you email. I’m awaiting calls from weeks ago. The app doesn’t work properly so you will have to be on the phone to tech people. Save yourself the time of cancelling in a few months time because if you ever need to make a claim, you will end up cancelling immediately. Reviewed on: 8th November 2021
