Good set up. Set up was good and easy to complete. It was not the cheapest but very close. Friends are with the AA and recommended the site. Reviewed on: 7th October 2025

Review of the AA, Car insurance:

AA car insurance expensive and rubbish

1
On September 23rd last year I drove through some flood water on my way to our daughters house, I drove slowly, I had no choice because of cars behind me etc. Driving through the flood water caused my power steering to fail, a light comes on the dashboard warning you do not drive, I made it to my daughters house and I called the AA recovery and they sent one of their engineers to diagnose the fault which he did using his diagnostic equipment, I also rang the AA insurance line to make them aware, they said no problem it would be covered and promptly arranged a courtesy car. Over the next 3 or 3 weeks they attempted to find a garage to look at my car and they failed to do this, the garages they were sending me to were body repair garages. In the end they asked me if I could find someone, i rang a couple of Audi dealers and even got my car recovered to one of them but when their director heard it was being paid by the AA insurance he told me to collect the car because they took too long to pay and he didn’t want to deal with them. So after about 5 weeks the AA insurance sent an independent assessor, who was obviously used to looking at collision damaged cars because all he did was take a photo of the sides, front and back of my car, then he checked the tyre tread depths before opening and closing the bonnet. He then started my car and of course this warning light came on “power steering failure” He then told me what I already know that it was a power steering failure. He then said he’d seen this before water getting into the steering rack and as my car was 8 years old this had probably been building up over time until I went through the flood water and pushed it over the edge. He wrote this in his report to the AA and they promptly took my courtesy car back and said my car wasn’t covered as this was fair wear and tear. I’ve since contacted Audi main head office and they’ve confirmed there’s no such history of this as a fault on the Audi A5 car. The AA insurance are still adamant that I’m not covered, based on this assessors theory. I am not happy at all with their service to me. I’ve e just had a reply from AA car insurance saying “ sorry to hear about my experience give the claims team a call to see if they can help,” unfortunately I’ve been in touch with them for the last 3 months and they are still adamant that are not going to be held responsible for my repair even though I’ve been in touch with Audi themselves and they refute the independent assessors claim that this is a know fault that builds up over years, and he did all that without looking at anything, they did reply suggesting I talk to customer care to resolve this but unfortunately I’ve already done this and they have dismissed my claim again Reviewed on: 13th January 2025

AA have been happy to adjust their prices to keep my business and the customer service has been great. I have also used them for my mother’s home and car insurance. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

AA wrongfully canceled insurance early

1
AA canceled insurance early, resulting in client needing to pay for temporary insurance to avoid missing appointments. No response despite promises of immediate investigation. Follow up call promised within 30 minutes did not materialise. Manager Laura did not respond. Eventually a representative rang to state the obvious—it was their error. However, no path to resolution for lost time and money provided. Thus official complaint made. Think carefully if this is the experience you want from an insurer. Reviewed on: 1st August 2024

A deceitful company

1
After an uneventful year with the aa they sent a renewal quote.. As always it's more than what a can get a new quote for. I chose to ignore it. A little while later my credit card statement came through and the aa had taken a new year's premium. Upon dispute the aa informed me I hadn't unselected auto renew and took £30 pounds admin few. Having looked at another policy from the aa it's clear they do their best to hide the auto renew tick box by disguising the select box in a hidden drop down box. Very devious. Having taking a new policy with AXA their auto renew box was very clear and visible. I won't be using the aa again. Any company hiding such tick boxes should be avoided at all costs. On another note why companies should be allowed to have the auto renew already ticked is something I can not fathom and should change! Reviewed on: 25th July 2024

Poor Customer Service

1
We took out a new policy with the AA. Three weeks later we changed our car for an identical (but new) model; no other details had changed. When I contacted the AA to advise of the change of vehicle I was told that the price of our insurance would increase by 60%. I was advised to go back to a price comparison website to seek a better price. I found a cheaper quote elsewhere but was then told by the AA that the refund on our policy would include a cancellation fee. So my options were to accept a 60% increase on my premium or pay a cancellation fee in order to take up a cheaper policy elsewhere. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2024

Haggle to a Best Deal

Straightforward to deal with over the phone, to ensure I always get the best deal and not accept the renewal price. The AA are happy to haggle and sort out my car insurance at a great price for another year Reviewed on: 17th June 2024

AA RIP OFF MERCHANTS

How can my insurance triple in cost when I have never had a claim in my life been with the AA for many years so it is beyond me how it can triple in price when I rang some one who could hardly string a sentence together in English told me cost of living in broken English total joke from what is supposed to be a reputable company coco the clown would do a far better job Reviewed on: 8th June 2024
