Disappointing Experience with AA Insurance – Caution Advised On 10 March 2025, I was involved in a car accident where the other driver admitted fault, and the incident was reported to their insurer, AA Insurance. Subsequently, I encountered significant issues regarding the provision of a replacement vehicle. My vehicle falls under the P8 category, and I was presented with two options: 1. Accept a P4 category vehicle along with a £200 payment. 2. Receive a P8 category vehicle equivalent to my own. I chose the second option, opting for a vehicle comparable to mine. However, AA Insurance later claimed that I had agreed to the first option, which was not the case. This misunderstanding led to a dispute, and as a result, all services related to my claim were halted. Since the date of the accident, I have faced considerable inconvenience and distress. I am actively exploring all legal avenues to address this situation. For those considering AA Insurance or dealing with them due to an incident, I strongly recommend the following: • Do not rely solely on verbal agreements. • Request written confirmation for all communications and agreements. • If possible, record phone conversations using your personal device, ensuring you inform the other party of the recording.  This advice also extends to interactions with AX, the car rental company affiliated with AA Insurance. In summary, I advise exercising caution when dealing with AA Insurance and ensuring all communications are well-documented to prevent potential disputes. Reviewed on: 16th April 2025

Competitive car insurance

Got a quote for new car insurance as existing insurers renewal a little high. AA came in at a competitive quote and resulted in cheaper insurance with even more extras included. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Car not fixed. Won’t give like for like car to repair

“Following an accident that was not fault. The 3rd party admitted liability at the scene. Phoned AA and initially they told me because I lived in wales I needed to find my own repairer and they required quotes to see. Eventually after much back and forth they agreed to take it to a garage they use. The garage did not fit the car correctly and following been told it’s just water marks and independent assessor has stated there is over £560 plus VAT repairs still to be complete. The AA offered me £78 yo take it to my own garage and get it fixed. They are now refusing to provide me with a courtesy car that fits my family (3 car seats in back needs) if the car goes back to their repairer to fix the work that was not done initially Avoid the AA. They don’t look after customers. When trying to claim for car seats their response was “that is just life” They also refuse to give a like for like car as a courtesy car even though they had admitted full liability that the repair work was not to standard. Reference number: AAS485674, I am not satisfied with this outcome of my accident. Minimal botched repairs were carried out to my vehicle after the accident by AA. I am currently not working so would not be able to afford this diagnostic they’re requesting. This is terrible service as my insures should cover accident damages considering I’m paying £75 monthly, rather than expecting me the customer to wait to pay out of pocket to get the car repaired during my MOT eventhough I was rear ended. I’m so disappointed in AA as an insurance company, as after my car was repaired paint work was pealing at the bottom of the booth, whilst the brake constantly screeching which has been since the accident, but rather that doing what is obligated by my insurance company they kept referencing I need to pay to get the work done by MOT out of pocket. Terrible service I do not recommend AA. Displeased with service. Got back to via email after a week, when I was told I would be called to get an update. Pure avoidance. STAY AWAY! DON'T USE THEM!!!

STAY AWAY!!!!! I was involved in accident in which the moped rider was involved in a cash for cash scheme, the AA knew this and refused to pay out on the claim..I was told that because it was still an open claim my renewal would go up but when they finally do shut the claim that I would have my car insurance recalculated and I would receive a refund. 11 months later I get a call and they inform that I won't be receiving any money back because although it was a no fault claim on my part it was still a claim. I've been driving 2 years now, my car is a base model VW Up the insurance on last renewal for a 1 litre 3 cylinder car driven by a 45 year old man was £1,505 if you are reading this please please please stay away from them. The customer service team are thick as two short planks and sound mostly half asleep and the other half sound put out they've had to speak to you. The insurance assessor I had made inappropriate comments about my number plate and basically camped it up on the phone as if to make light of the matter. All the way through from the day of my renewal I was told I would be reimbursed. I've now taken it to the financial ombudsman. STAY AWAY!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!! Reviewed on: 11th May 2025
