Review of the Admiral, Travel insurance:

Impossible to contact

1
My partner slipped whilst on holiday on the 4th November 2022 and broke her wrist. Immediate hospital treatment was required. On our return I made a claim on my multi trip policy with Admiral. I filled in an online questionnaire and submitted copies of receipts for the charges incurred for treatment, medication, travel and appointments. I received a notification informing me the questionnaire was 100% completed and I would receive a response with in 30 working days, which I did not. I eventually received a reply in early January asking me to review my claim. I logged on to my claim portal and the questionnaire was noted as only 25% complete and the documents I submitted was missing. I filled in the information for a second time and received the same response ( contact will be made in 30 working days). I have tried numerous times via email, online chats, and customer care email (No contact telephone number available) ect. I was totally ignored. I eventually threatened to contact ombudsman to make a complaint and received a reply with in 24 hrs apologising and requesting me to resubmit my claim. It has now been 4 months and I am no further forward than the I first day I submitted my claim. I am currently looking for travel insurance elsewhere as my family are going on holiday in June and if the worst was to happen I can not reply on Admiral to be contactable or to settle a claim if it was required. I have been ignored multiple times. contact is virtually impossible. If it was not for the fact the Admiral was very well advertised cross many media platforms I can honestly say that I feel I had been conned or scammed into taking out this policy by a fraudulent business. I am luck that the claim was for a broken wrist and not some life threatening injury. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2023

Admiral Travel Insurance is not worth the paper it's written on....................

1
Having fallen victim to the recent UK ATC issue, I was comforted by the knowledge that I had 'Admiral Platinum Travel Insurance' in place. That comfort was short lived as Admiral quickly wriggled out of any intention to honour their policy. Whilst claiming to cover out/inbound travel issues affected by UK based technical issues; they have a clause in their policy that excluded 'computer based' technical issues!! Now, most 'technical things' these days have a computer chip in them somewhere so this is clearly a cheap and shabby 'get out clause' for them not to have to honour a genuine and highly credible claim. Surely one of the most fundamental reasons a traveller takes out travel insurance is in lieu of issues (out of their control) that means they have a trip abandoned, interrupted or disrupted. Not the case with Admiral insurance. I would advise strongly to both shop elsewhere and read the small print carefully - there may be more unethical companies out there. Perhaps Admiral should consider re-branding their policies............ 'Admiral Brass Travel Insurance' might be more appropriate for the latent short-comings of their cover. Worst insurance I ever had to deal with

1
Would give 0 stars if I could. I'm starting to think this insurance is a SCAM. It's been+ 2 MONTHS that I had to cancel my holidays due to an unexpected stay at the hospital and I still haven't received any reimbursement. I have proof of the hospital, the GP, every documentation of what I paid and they still refuse to pay me my money back. More and more insane document requests and whenever I submit one they ask for the next one. Save yourself the trouble and get another insurance provider. STAY AWAY!!! This is the worst insurance company in the UK

Admiral insurance gives you nothing - no comfort and no assurance. You will think that you’re protected but there is absolutely no protection awarded. Reviewed on: 13th September 2023

Good, but...

competitively priced and good coverage but for some reason your travel insurance can't be viewed alongside other insurances but only through a separate travel insurance portal Reviewed on: 31st August 2023

False comfort insurance

I wish I’d read the reviews before insuring with Admiral. Exhaustive details required by them for my claim over a lost item of hand luggage and its contents, including proof of loss claim with the Airline and the police. Some 6 weeks into the claim, a depreciation figure ( 33% of cost ) was offered on the bag itself, and I was then told I’d need to register each of the contents with the Airline website, and then provide receipts or photos of the items as proof of ownership. Gave up and agreed a settlement with my Contents provider within days. Reviewed on: 30th August 2023

Stolen item claim rejected

1
Had a claim rejected after having items stolen while on holiday. I provided reasoning which discredited both of the rejection reasons, but they refused to accept it. However, my friend’s claim through NatWest was approved and she had a much smoother process. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere than Admiral. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2023

Do NOT use this appalling company

1
Had to abandon a week's break in May 23, due to partners I'll health. My claim has been reduced by the excess and then halved,, ignoring that I had made payment for our trip.. Now my partner has to make his own claim and will also be deducted his excess for the same trip. This seems a totally unreasonable way of being compensated in my opinion.
