need visa as back up

I use this card as I have had it for years and it gives cashback. However, some retailers don't accept it so you do need another card as backup Reviewed on: 31st August 2015

Good but has limitations

This is a good credit card and because I have had it for so long it gives rewards which can be converted to vouchers. The only downside is that some retailers do not accept it because the costs are so high Reviewed on: 28th August 2015

GREAT FOR BUILDING UP POINTS

Took out a new credit card

I recently took out a Platinum cashback credit card with them and have been pretty pleased with them so far with a couple of provisos. Firstly, it transpires that you don't actually get cashback, instead you get the amount discounted off your anniversary bill - a tad disappointing as I'd hoped for cash in hand. Not a big issue, but I don't recall this being made clear when I signed up! Secondly, acceptance of the card is more limited than others such as Mastercard or Visa - though generally it is small independents that don't accept it. The reason I have been given is that they charge retailers more than other companies. Again not a major issue, but one to be aware of. I have a second credit card so it isn't a big problem. Quite often not accepted by retailers

Good credit card with no annual fee. Disadvantage is though that a few retailers don't accept Amex - you need a Visa card as back up Reviewed on: 27th August 2015

Great way to earn cashback!

I applied for an Amex Platinum Everyday credit card for the cashback it offered - I received an introductory offer of 5% cashback for my first three months and am currently receiving 1% cashback. I use the card for almost all my day to day spending and have already built up over £150 in cashback. Amex also offer some great 'save to card' offers e.g. 'Spend £50 and get £20 cashback ' in stores including Topshop and Argos. The only downsides are some major stores don't accept Amex and you have to wait until your card anniversary before you can actually receive your cashback. Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

Starting to think about leaving...

I LOVE my american express BA card because of the points I can earn and the offers they have from time to time, including small business promotions. However, for the last few months any saved offers I then use are not tracked. I have to mail them to flag and redeem which is starting to get a little annoying. PLEASE FIX! Great cashback rate and good protection for the user

We have been using Amex for years now and always have been impressed by the level of service we have received from them. We do put our "big spending" through American Express firstly because of the great protection it provides and secondly for the cashback you can earn through it. Whenever we have contacted Amex, they were always easy to get through and attentive to our issue. Only downside is that not every business will accept Amex due to its' cost to themselves but this is only a minor problem. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015
