Review of the Animal Friends, Pet insurance:

Don't Do It

1
Before you consider taking out insurance with these thieves....stop....put your debit card down. Don't believe their "animal friends" nicey nicey name/image...these guys will whatever they can to not pay you the money you're owed. My dog has been left lame and in pain for nearly 2 months while I've had two different claims denied. I've now just had to bite the bullet and pay for it myself. I've had insurance with them for 4 years and never claimed a penny. Then when I need them... guess what, they try to wriggle out of paying and couldn't care less about your pet. Best advice I can give you is to direct debit the money you would pay to them monthly into a savings account and further down the line if/when you need it you will have a pot of money to at least lessen the burden Reviewed on: 2nd March 2021

extortionate insurance renewals

I had my boy as a pup.his premium was £56 a month.used this firm fir my last dog and they were fine,no excessive hikes in premiums and though my boys premium was double l was fine with it. My boy was unlucky first year he had elbow and hip surgery done. His renewal premium went up to £116 a month. Could just afford it but second year throat operation and then we found out at 19 months old he had terminal inoperable cancer. we were so glad we had insurance so we could give him good quality of life. His second renewal came in at £406 a month £5000 a year! !!! Now if l had no mortgage l would have done my bestt but we couldnt afford that. Despite numerous phone calls as they knew he was terminally ill and at best we only had a year left with him, they refused to budge and told me the price on the website was only for healthy pets. My boy was pts at 26 months old, we couldnt afford the extortionate renewal. In less than a year it had gone up 728% . My policy was lifetime cover and a top one. Avoid like the plague as if your pet becomes ill they will sting you for it when renewal comes around as they know you cant go elsewhere with a pre eexisting condition. Not helpful or ethical, like to look good but fall short on customer service. Reviewed on: 1st January 2016

cheap and good for emergency cover. wouldn't use them if I could choose not as they have not been helpful

If you ask questions they refer you to the website. If you want help they refer you to the website and so on and so forth. Okay for emergency cover but no good if you like the human touch Reviewed on: 25th November 2015

All was ok until I was made aware that once your dog is over 8 they make you pay a large percentage of the bill, plus the excess!

Relying on the vet completing and returning the claim is not helpful. Some vets charge a fee to do this! That really annoys me! Paying upfront is difficult when income is low. Reviewed on: 25th November 2015
