Review of the Are You Owed Money, Debt collection:

Absolute scammers

I registered with AYOM in February 2021 to recover debt from client who did not pay their invoice. I was promised successful action and that they will not only send correspondence to the debtor but will also visit their premises to communicate directly. For 6 months they were only sending automated text messages and some letters, and calls but there was no visit. After 6 months the debt was not recovered, I was advised about filling the claim in Small Claims Court. AYOM's legal department prepared claim and sent to the court, but I paid the fees and conducted all further work with the court case. Finally client paid, but not as a result of AYOM's activity, but as a result of my claim. After the client paid, AYOM charged me almost £700 of "success fee", which they should not, as none of their actions resulted in debt recovery. However their legal department (despite claiming that they do not provide legal advice), stated " don't worry, we can now legally claim it back, as the order was made". They wanted to make another claim but I refused, worried about yet another "success fee"! I made the claim myself, as per their advice, and in June 2023 the claim was rejected by the judge as "abuse of process" as AYOM should know that debt recovery fees MUST be claimed as a part of initial claim, and any secondary claims are indeed abuse of process. I was yet again completely mislead by AYOM, and they should have known that. I did not only pay success fee for success that I achieved myself, but I was also mislead with regards to the advice of their legal department (if they have legal department and legal professionals – this means they DO offer legal advice), which costed me additional money spent on court application, two days loss of income (cancelled bookings, the case was initially adjourned), travel costs, printing costs for the bundle, postage costs. Complaint process with AYOM proved to be unsuccessful, with their customer service providing answers that were contradictory and claiming their success and at the same time stating that claims were mine and I was supposed to check them. I do not have legal experience or knowledge, that's why I hired professional company with legal department. I would not know if the claim was correct. I was mislead about entire process. I would also like to complain about the delays with dealing with my case, my need of frequent reminders and their response that I am not a priority client and was pushed to the back of the queue. Taking legal action against them

This is not a debt collection company. They are out and out thieves. They collect the money you are owed, then keep it. They have been sitting on my money since July. They are probably bankrupt. I'm taking legal action against them. Reviewed on: 10th December 2024

Waste of time.

Great sales pitch, terrible service.

Great sales pitch, terrible service. Lots of automated emails and messages sent but no action like phone calls, visiting the debtor, or enforcement taken. Very much felt like a 'take your money and run' operation. And no updates, not even when requested via their client portal. Extremely disappointing and we will never use them again. Be Careful

Be Careful , I Paid ¬ 160 Pound to react on my Behalf and Contact Debtor after chasing the debtor , the Debtor Paid then (Are You Owed Money) they confirmed that they received the money on may 2024 , until this moment I couldn't receive the money from ( Are You Owed Money ) until now , keep saying that I need to read the contract which is 8 pages , 8 page contract for an amount less than 5000 pound , why they did not send this contract from beginning , its been sent before the Debtor decided to pay? long waiting period , bad communication and delay in respond , all responded not stating when the payment will be done even the approximately period . continue saying that the Bank did not do the clearance of the amount , its been 7 month and we still waiting , be aware of these things Reviewed on: 7th November 2024

The worst company i have ever dealt with - Do not use

In September 2023 my company employed them to recover a debt from one of my clients who refused to pay his final bill. They took £2,500 as a fee after coming to my house with the big sell. They successfully collected the debt on November 26th 2023. Well almost 12 months later and numerous phone calls and email the money has still not been returned to me!! They hide behind the collection department and never answer the phone or reply to emails. On Monday 11th November 2024 I will be driving up to there offices in Preston to get my money!! They are the worst c company I have ever come across has have c used me and my family emended mental stress and illness. Reviewed on: 6th November 2024

Absolutely shocking.

Absolutely shocking. Chased and chased this company for an answer. case AY-5163-0217.001. Wasting so much time and they are withholding payment for a debt they have recovered. Same few members of staff answer and give the same -no-one here to talk. Have given an ultimatum - before taking this further. This company should be stuck off. CRIMINAL. SHOCKING

Reference *** Took £1500 from me to setup,they have collected over £8000 over a 2 year period but are NOT passing my money over to myself.Customer services ignore ALL emails and no-one can answer any of my questions. DO NOT USE - Small claims court against this company

AYOM collected all monies owed to me from the debtor but refuses to pay me out. They collected in full in January 2024 and I'm still waiting to be paid anything. They've even gone as far as GDPR removing the debtors information from the portal and considering my case complete... How is this possible if I haven't received a penny? We are in the process of filing small claims court against this company and have reported to Action Fraud. Reviewed on: 15th October 2024

We did also ask on Google for you to get in touch so we could verify you as a user and if so, assist but we have yet to receive any correspondence to the email account requested. As per our previous response on Google: Hi James. We have an article here on why we incorporate a holding period once retrieving any money from your debtor (https://www.areyouowedmoney.co.uk/ayom-blog/post/chargebacks-holding-period.php). Whenever we receive payment, to avoid charge backs from the debtor's bank we wait until it is impossible for them to claw the money back. This timespan varies depending on the method of payment and isn't the same timescale for every payment type.
