Review of the ASDA Money, Pet Insurance:

when our dog became ill we didn't hesitate authorising and paying for all the treatment, when it came to making a claim the process was simple enough. I had read reviews and to be honest wasn't confident about any of the claims being paid out. we sadly lost our dog shortly afterwards. it took almost 2 months for the decision on the claims and all were paid out less excess etc. we did have our last claim which I hadn't bothered submitting however we did submit this. I had continued with paying the insurance as I read that this would need to be paid for the full year ( we, were paying monthly). the last claim alerted the insurers to our dogs passing. we received a lovely email sending their condolences, and a further email advising that they had taken care of cancelling the policy and a refund was on its way, again not what we, asked for or expected. yes the wait was long for the claims to be settled, however once the first one was done the rest were done In days, we hadn't chased these up much as to be honest we didn't really care by then, however, maybe if we had it would have been done quicker. Still waiting for our claim to be accessed, the claim was made end of October 24 we are now December 24 and I’m still being told the claim is waiting to be accessed even though I’m informed they have all the information they need, constantly told there is a backlog. When reading the reviews this seems to be a pattern and no doubt the people working for customer services read from the same scripted nonsense. They can’t give you any timeline as it changes every time you have to call. I called after 4 weeks and was told it can take up to six, call after 6 weeks and I’m told it’s still waiting to be accessed. Terrible! They take your money no problem but when you need to claim you’re just fobbed off. Reviewed on: 10th December 2024

Awful customer service and the continue to say information hasn’t been received even it has been sent 3 times and confirmed receipt after calling them to then cancel your claim and have to start again. people take out insurance for reassurance, I have spent a lot of my hard earned money on my pet who unfortunately had stood in glass and needed an op. I’m still waiting 3 months later to even get the ball rolling trying to claim any of what I spent back, wishful thinking. I pay £45 a month Amesbury would honey honestly recommend not opting for an insurance company based on price, it’s not worth your time or the hassle. Reviewed on: 13th November 2024

DO NOT TOUCH ASDA PET INSURANCE ITS ABYSMAL

2 years in a row they took too much money off me and eventually refunded me. My dog has an injection every month the claim goes in the same day at present I’m waiting for the last 3 claims. I’m tired ringing and emailing. My other dogs are with a good company and the difference is unbelievable. My advice don’t touch Asda with a barge pole it’s nothing but stress they are totally useless! Reviewed on: 10th October 2024

Policy said £500.00 benefit for death from ANY Cause. When our wee 13 year old Yorkie had to be put down due to paralysis of all limbs they declined to honour it it. Reviewed on: 9th October 2024

Such a long wait for claims to be processed. I suppose you get what you pay for. Unfortunately can't change company now I have made a claim. Definitely won't be using them again and don't recommend them. Reviewed on: 27th June 2024

pathetic pet insurance

I have Asda pet insurance, my dog was I’ll in February and while the claim submission process by the vet was easy, nearly two months on there is no sign of being paid out, I phoned to see what was happening and they said there is a big backlog and the assessor has not even begun to look at my claim, utterly ridiculous, will be leaving the first chance I get Reviewed on: 25th April 2024

Disgusting price increases!

My cat has been insured through ASDA for over 10 years. She’s under the senior plan. They charge £85 excess. Then take 10% for something then another 10% for her being old. Yet I’m already paying the senior plan to cover her age, her insurance has now gone up by £57 per month to a total of £172 PER MONTH. I’ve only made two small claims in the time I’ve had her covered. Unfortunately, she now has health conditions & no other insurer will take her on. My other cat is covered by another company & her insurance has stayed at under £40 for the last 9 years. Avoid and go with a better insurer that will pay out.

Completely useless, has taken 8 weeks so far to get a tiny £200 claim made. still not paid out. If this was for a bigger amount which is what most people need the insurance for it would not help you out and make the whole thing very stressful. Reviewed on: 5th March 2024

Absolutely abysmal experience stay away from them!

Absolutely abysmal experience stay away from them! I made a claim which should have been very straightforward, my doggy had a small lump removed. First of all Asda said they’d never received the claim form from the vets so I had to chase the vets to resend and over the last 2 months I’ve made endless phone calls to try and establish why I still not have not received my money back! They tried all sorts of stalling tactics and yesterday I spoke to one of their customer service reps who can only be described as robotic and monotone and showed no empathy! I said enough was enough and I would not tolerate any more of their BS, I had paid my premiums in good faith and I would be seeking advice from the financial ombudsman. Today I have received an e mail to say my money minus an excess and a “Co-insurance fee!” Will be paid within 7 working days. I won’t hold my breath and will not be using them again whether that be for pet insurance or their supermarkets! Utter rubbish! Reviewed on: 29th February 2024
