Review of the Bank of Scotland, Classic Account:

Easy set up, great account, friendly staff

I recently opened a new "Classic Account with Vantage" at the Bank of Scotland. My partner has been with them for over 20 years and told me that they've been great. I did my research and their accounts have quite consistently been in best buy tables I've seen, it also pays interest (unlike my old account at RBS) and they have more branches around - not that I really use them, but it's nice to know they are there. I also liked the everyday offers feature, which said it would give me cashback just shopping as normal if I pay with my Bank of Scotland debit card. You can have these offers "flagged" on your statement too, so that you spot where you could be earning cashback. I did pop in to the branch with a few questions before I opened the account, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a queue at the time, and 2 staff members were helping people skip the queue by showing them how to deposit money in the deposit box/cash machines which I thought was helpful. It meant I was seen much quicker than just joining the line! They also have a linked monthly saver account which looks good, I may open that too (you need a Bank of Scotland current account to have the Monthly Saver account). I did the account opening online, which was very easy to do, and had the decision in minutes. I think the whole process took less than 10 minutes. The card and PIN arrived within 4 days (faster than they said it would). Their mobile banking app is VERY easy to use and looks like it lets you do everything you might need to do. I have just activated my first everyday offer - 5% cashback on shopping in Morrisons. All in all, my experience so far has been very positive, no problems opening the account, and so far, lots of good things about the bank and the account. Reviewed on: 13th June 2017

BoS is an easy and simple bank.

BoS provides most of the information you will ever require online via their website or app. It’s easy to check your account, make changes like adding new product, and set limits on your cards. Reviewed on: 18th July 2022

GREEDY BANK THAT GIVES YOU NOTHING BUT STRESS

Setting up account first impressions count

Applied for a new account filling out all details online, account was created and received card, pin and security code in post took 1 week. Tried to set up online banking. Security code doesn't work so applied for another took 1 week to arrive. Try again on the app and get to a step to enter memorable data, nothing telling you what format this should be in. Log on via PC eventually get past this step. Then the service tries to call you for security but apparently no phone number is linked to the account, I'm looking at it on the copy of the application form! Call customer services 20:00 Friday night, wait over 25 mins. Told to add a phone number to the account I need to be at a higher level of security and they will send out another code taking 5 days. The only positive was that the member of staff was really efficient at closing my account presumably because they have so many unhappy customers they have to do it so often. Long term current account

I have banked with BoS since leaving school. I have always found them rock solid and reliable. Recent history has been underwhelming with product interest rates. Reviewed on: 17th January 2022

Love my local branch

I joined my local and of Scotland in Eastkilbride Scotland around 2 years ago and I've had such a great experience with them .all the Stafford very knowledgeable and ate always appy to help. I Ave never adana issues with myaccount or online account etc.weeer I do phone the customer care team based in England they too are very polite & helpful so overall I Am very happy with this bank.
