Always look out for my account safety

I have had my Barclays current account for over 20 years and can say I am very happy with them. There have been a couple of occasions when my card has been blocked. when I have called up to see why this is the case , it has been when I have made quite a few small orders and then a larger order. this can be a tell tell sign of scammers. I would rather they take these actions then be left with money missing from my account. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Good Overdraft but hefty charged

I have changed jobs but I am too scared to tell Barclays as they will take my overdraft away. They have also introduced daily charges for being in your overdraft which soon add up Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Impossible to close an account

After deciding to close my current account I went into the bank and asked for advice. I was given a form to complete and was told that was all I had to do. If that had been the case this would've been a glowing review. However 8 months later I had a letter stating my household insurance had automatically been paid for. Thinking this was impossible as the account was closed I went into barclays to check this out. Although there was a note on the system that I had completed the form to close the account and it had been processed they still allowed this transaction to go through. They told me that they could not reverse it and for a brucy bonus I had used an unauthorised overdraft and would be charged. After 2 hours of arguing my point they finally agreed to drop the charges but nothing else. Oh and they said they would close the account AGAIN. There was no sympathy from staff members or manager. Good to me

I have had a Barclays bank account for over 15 years and not had a major problem in all that time. I have received a brilliant pay out after a PPI claim with no hassle and have always found the staff to be very helpful Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Banked for many years

Always there when I need them in emergency situations and always helpful when enquiring about things. Did have trouble with them back in 2009 but other than that they've really improved on a lot of things. The only thing I don't like is letters for pin numbers as they've become hard work to peel away but I always get my statements every six months so there is a plus side :). Could word letters a lot better

I recently opened a bank account with Barcleys, everything was great card arrived PIN numbers arrive for bank card, Internet banking and telephone banking, in one letter it says to activate my card at a barcleys Atm, so off I go to the bank to activate my card, unfortunately the atm was out of service so couldn't do anything, went into branch to be told they couldn't activate it in branch I had to use a barcleys atm, I got a text message the following day stating that unless I activated my card within 24 hours they would close my account, so I rang barcleys to be told that I can actually use any atm to activate the card but they prefer you use a barcleys atm, now had they written on the letter that any atm is fine I would of activated the card straight away, same for the staff in the branch telling me I ours only use a barcleys machine, maybe they need to write there letters more clearly and train staff to give all the options available Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

great extras with a free account

An account with barclays is worth having. It is easy to manage online and as an added bonus you get free Kaspersky internet security for multiple computers, worth banking with for that alone. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016
