Barclaycard and respective Barclay's service has been a safe, reliable and value for money option in credit options and respective debt management. T&Cs are always very clear, services are easy with clear information and support is quick and useful. I took out a Platinum credit card to transfer balances from other cards. I found the process extremely easy. The App is user friendly. I can easily control my account online. Barclays send out weekly balance and monthly payment reminders. The other best thing is unlike other credit card companies they renew the balance transfer offer each month. I used to enjoy my barclaycard.

I used to enjoy my barclaycard. They stopped sending me deals for a while which was unhelpful. Then they wrote to me to say they wanted to increase my limit. Send a text to just get it done now instead of waiting for the date. Then on sending the text, declined it! That is stupid! It was their idea! Then eventually they did give the increase anyway. Not the most competitive

Initial use was good. Competitive rates for balance transfers and purchases. The app changed from being separate to joining the Barclays app. Features on the app are good and seamless. After some years no longer became competitive and my limit was reduced without any prior discussion, just an email was sent. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Barclaycard don't want prompt payers

I have had a Barclaycard for a long time and had a credit limit of £9500. I thought I might as well increase it a bit to £10,000. Within a few weeks my credit limit had been reduced to £1,100. I have a good income and pay 40% income tax. We have no mortgage or loans and my Experian credit score is 999. Could not get any sense whatsoever from Barclays. I recently tried to increase it from £1,100 to £1,200 and they turned me down! I have to wait 6 months before I can apply to increase it again!! I have kept it on just for supermarket spending as they are still giving me 2% cashback on any supermarket spend. I don't think they want big spenders who always clear the balance in full each month. I applied for an American Express Nectar card and they immediately gave me a £12,000 limit. The Nectar points are worth 1%, handy if you use Argos or Sainsbury. Reviewed on: 14th November 2025
