About this product

The Nationwide FlexDirect current account pays interest on your money and you can earn cashback on debit card purchases for the first 12 months.

If you’re eligible for an overdraft, the first £50 is interest free. The FlexDirect account has to be managed online or over the phone, not at the branch.

great people, picky processes

4
On the whole, my experience with Nationwide has been excellent. I use the local branch, and have used teleconferencing within the branch to complete applications managed by head office. However there are still a few processes that rely on printed forms collected at branch and sent to head office, and on several occasions I have had forms returned as I had been given the wrong one for the action I had wanted to complete. Branch staff are very friendly and I get the sense that they enjoy working for the company. I also think of Nationwide as a bank that will engage with customers as people, rather than purely focusing on profit. This is as a result of comparing products with other providers. Easy and swift set up of new online current account with the switch of my old account processed within 7 days. Reviewed on: 9th February 2017

Fantastic savings interest rate.

Fantastic savings rate, easy to access and the app is very accessible. Tools like impulse save are great for saving spare cash. Reviewed on: 6th February 2017

Very happy

I have been with the Nationwide for a few years now now and they always offer new accounts, ideas etc which is great. Great 5% rate on a current account for 12 months is a good offer that I accepted gratefully. Reviewed on: 5th February 2017

Straightforward internet banking. Happy with customer service Reviewed on: 5th February 2017

Long term customer, no major issues

5
I have held a Nationwide Current Account for nearly 13 years and would not consider going back to the major banks. Customer service is usually good and there has always been a willingness to resolve any problems promptly. I only wish I could get more people to switch so I could claim the £100 ;-) Reviewed on: 1st February 2017

No problems

Have been with Nationwide for years, do not get hassled like others do in banks. Great online banking system and friendly staff in branches. Reviewed on: 20th January 2017

Fantastic Service

I still do my banking face to face, the staff are pleased to see you, pleasant and efficient. They also have knowledge of their products and what is suitable for me. They do not push sales and so encourage brand loyalty in their customers. Reviewed on: 13th January 2017

Five star interest rate

5
Super savings account with 5 % interest but only on a maximum deposit of £2500 with total yearly interest of £125 earned. Only slight downside is that the headline interest rate of 5% lasts for one year only. So on opening anniversary you have to close the account and re-open a new one to continue getting 5% and importantly this needs to be either single/joint to joint/single in order to meet qualifying terms Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Overall a good bank to deal with

4
Any contact I have had on the telephone has been positive. The only gripe I have had is that the cashier at a branch wouldn't accept a cheque over the counter, I had to use the machine. The machine had ran out of envelopes so I had to go back in to the branch. It was just a pain for something that should have been so simple. Reviewed on: 27th November 2016
