***DO NOT BUY****DO NOT BUY***** My daughter bought a Mini in August 2022. Within 2 weeks the engine warning light came on and was immediately taken back. The mechanic turned the light off, said what caused it and advised he'd know what the cause was if it happened again! The car then broke down on a dark, November evening. Luckily, just after driving through lanes. The RAC said it wasn't safe to drive and towed it to Tiley's. After 'repairing' it the car broke down again within weeks. The car was unsafe, not fit for purpose, DANGEROUS! The attitude of the Owner when speaking to women is disgusting. A condescending, chauvinistic person. He was very friendly to my Husband! My daughter raised a complaint to REJECT the car. Part finance through Close Brothers meant that they organised an Independent review. After a very short drive the conclusion was there were no faults. On subsequently looking at reviews online it would appear they act in favour of the requestor. The car was taken to a Mini dealership at her own expense, where multiple faults were found. The complaint was taken to the Ombudsman and was upheld. Over a year after purchasing the car was collected and a full refund plus compensation was given. If you have already purchased a car please look to REJECT the car as is your Consumer right. If you haven't purchased, STOP!! DON'T BUY A DANGEROUS, COSTLY VEHICLE. Reviewed on: 22nd February 2024

Very bad beware

My case still on since 20th September 2022 The bike I bought brand new under the finance .finally they found out it’s a problem of point of sale after two months .even as they know and told me that they liable For give me fully refund ,but now still telling me the stories and and keep taking direct debit since then . Really bad company .i will go to ombudsmen as well ,also they conform ,they should not do what they doing to me right now . Sorry reading reviews about pandemic an them not giving a break in payments sorry but dont use car dont use what u cant afford. Iv had good experience with close brothers at end of day if someone owed u money would u excuse payments cos of pandemic no u wouldn't. Iv missed payments myself through financial difficulties not saying it dont happen but iv paid the 30 pound an believe me am not rich so 30 pound alot but rather pay 30 then drive without insurance. Or dont drive at all. U have credit agreement to read before u sign did rent/mortgage/gas/leccy/food stop cos of pandemic no so dont take a bill on Reviewed on: 7th November 2022

Scams to deny my right to cancel within 14 days - Avoid - Avoid

Having tried to finance my car Insurance, Close Brothers gave me a scheduled payment dates but having read the small print they tried to stick over £200 extra charges. They deny my right by law to cancel within 14 days by using Loop-Holes and Technicalities. I would rather than using Close Brothers. Avoid --Avoid unless you like to get ripped off. Offers one of the lowest aprs, customer service is good but their website needs to be clearer. If your payment is due on a Sunday/bank holiday and it goes past that date, it says “late payment” and gives you the option to pay now with a late fee. However the payment isn’t actually late and will just be taken next working day, yet they will still take your money and your late fee. Ombudsman claim

Bought a 2008 wrx through these from an ‘approved dealer’. Car is an absolute bag of spanners. Been through a complaint with no resolution, independent engineer literally drive the car for 5 mins then told them it was fine. So far I’ve spent £1600 on repairs to a £6k car and now it has failed MOT because it was sold illegally with not catalytic converters. Michelle Taylor, smarmy woman. Literally is ALWAYS ‘on a call’ and will leave it till last minute. I’m now going through the ombudsman because they won’t help me and this car is ruining me financially Reviewed on: 13th June 2022
