Always at the top of their game!

I do not tend to make that many physical visits to the Darlington branch, but whenever I do, I never consider it to be a chore, as I know that from walking through the door I will be treated courteously and professionally at all times. That instils in me, the confidence to know that I am dealing with, and that I am part of, one of the best financial businesses in the North-East of England. Reviewed on: 29th January 2026

I reached out to Darlington BS when having difficulty getting a mortgage after being told I would have to accept an adverse credit mortgage at higher rates. I did not have adverse credit other than a dispute with an energy company that was with the ombudsman, but was being turned down by lenders even my own bank that could see my credit history and finance management. It was demoralising. My friend told me how Darlington BS had listened to her and gave her a standard mortgage so I contacted them. They asked me to provide a full credit report and their underwriters would make a decision, and fortunately found in my favour providing me with a good mortgage and faultless communication and help.
