Disgrace Towards Young Safe Drivers

I am extremely unhappy with the way Go Girl Car insurance handled my policy that I had placed on the 7th of January. We had received three very rude emails from them one claiming that we had an accident 4 years ago, which we didn't and provided proof off, the second email asked us to provide proof of all the licenses again which we did. Then we received another email threatening to shut my insurance policy down within 7 days. After receiving this email from Gogirl I had immediately called them to investigate and discovered that we had some how listed him as a provisional driver. So we are now thinking okay so why didn't you call us sooner about this mistake instead of leaving it this long. We then asked the guy on the phone how much it would cost to insure him as a full driving license only to discover to my horror that it would cost an additional £600 in total costing £1040 to insure a Peugeot 107! I investigated the pricing by using a comparison site called go-compare to find a policy that would only cost £480 with Hastings car insurance for us all on a full UK driving license this time and its comprehensive. I tell him no way am I prepared to pay that amount of money and ask to cancel which would cost me £40! How is that justified? I thought you could cancel within 14 days of the policy starting anyways! Easy to buy with Go Girl

Easy to get a quote and purchase insurance. Have not needed to make a claim yet thankfully so can't comment on this part. Reviewed on: 23rd November 2015

Avoid

I took this insurance out for my 17 year old daughter as their quote for a learner driver was very competitive. Someone who had heard negative things about GoGirl then suggested I requoted to see what it would be once she had passed her test (something they don't tell you on the quote). The result was shocking and far more expensive than most other insurers. So it appears that they use a very competitive learner quote to lure customers in and then stiff them once the test is passed. You expect premiums to go up but not from £800 to nearly £5000! Worse still, I cancelled the policy a a matter of hours after I had taken it out, within the statutory cooling off period and 6 days before cover was due to start - they refunded part of my premium but took a £106 admin charge! Not up front in advising that there will be charges for cancellation within the 14 day cooling off period before you sign up.

I admit I accepted the insurance terms in order to buy this car policy but BEWARE, this is the first policy I have bought where they charge a cancellation charge within the 14 day cooling off period and they did not CLEARLY show this before I bought the policy (and realised I'd made a mistake within 5 minutes of receiving the documents via email and before the policy had commenced, which meant that I wanted to cancel and go elsewhere ) Yes, this charge was in the accepted T&C's but I believe it should have been clearly stated before - who reads the full blurb until they get the proper documentation ? I was stupid and didn't but I will from now on. Lesson learned Reviewed on: 9th November 2015

Very efficient and very helpful

Sadly I was involved in an accident. The good news was that the other party was insured by GoGirl Insurance Co. The day after the accident they were on the telephone to me organising a rental car and making sure I was not out of pocket. I received regular emails keeping in touch with me. Excellent service.
