Avoid!!!!

I have been with Halifax for over 9 years, on the 24 and 25th of December lots of money was fraudulently withdrawn from my account when I was enjoying my time with my family on Christmas day. Called them immediately and they REFUSED TO REFUND ME WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING INTO MY ACCOUNT. BUNCH OF USELESS INCOMPETENT STAFF WHO COULDNT EVEN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. APPLIED TO COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT, ACTION FRAUD AND FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN TO RECOVER MY HARD EARNED MONEY. MICHAEL DIAMOND A SO CALLED "MANAGER" AN ABSOLUTE JOKE, I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL TO SPEAK TO VIRTUAL ASSISTANT THAN HIM, AS ALL HE KEPT SAYING "I AM SATISFIED WITH THE DECISION MADE". WHEN I ASKED HIM ON WHAT GROUNDS HE REFUSED TO REPLY. DANIELLE IS ANOTHER USELESS FRAUD DEPARTMENT OFFICER, WHO ASKED ME 2 QUESTIONS: 1.HAVE YOU GOT YOUR CARD WITH YOU? YES 2.DOES ANYONE KNOW YOUR PIN- NO. BASED ON THAT SHE MADE A DECISION NOT TO REFUND MY MONEY!!!!!! NEVER WITHIN 9 YEARS WITH HALIFAX I WITHDRAWN THAT MUCH CASH, SO BANK SHOULD HAVE BLOCKED IT on GROUNDS OF SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. ALSO IT HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE ATM FROM DIFFERENT BOROUGHS OF UK, VERY FAR FROM WHERE I LIVE. CLEARLY THEY HAVE POOR SECURITY PERFORMANCE. I SPENT 4 HOURS ON THE PHONE TO HALIFAX TO GET ZERO RESULT. STAY AWAY FROM HALIFAX AND ANY OF THE BANKS UNDER THE LLOIDS BANKING GROUP, THEY HAD 21,304 OMBUDSMAN COMPLAINTS IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS!! I WILL RECOVER MY MONEY, AND YOU WILL COMPENSATE ME FOR THE DESTRESS YOU CAUSED ME AND I WILL BE CLOSING MY ACCOUNT WITH HALIFAX. THANKS FOR RUINING MY XMAS. Reviewed on: 30th January 2021

Life-long Halifax customer worried about future banking

I have been a life-long Halifax account holder, I hold a few accounts with them including savers and current accounts. They are easy to manage online if you are a little tech savvy, nothing too complicated however where they fail to deliver in my eyes is 1) Interest rates 2) Catering for the older generation 3) Lack of physical banks. While I am generally satisfied with their services for my own personal needs there are improvements needed for sure. Their interest rates are measly and almost non existent, going down year on year, you should be rewarding your customers for choosing your services not insulting them. Next while online and digital banking is convenient, it's not a one size fits all kind of deal and will undoubtedly leave the older generations and less savvy behind who may face great life struggles without easy access to their cash. This brings me onto my next point lack of physical banks, this is a by-product of banks going digital and closing down branches in favour of the ever pushy agenda of going completely digital (and eventually cashless it would seem). I will note that it's not just Halifax doing this but the majority of banks are doing the same, this is something that really concerns me and will most certainly do more harm than good so lets not try to fix a system that isn't broken, it works for everybody the way it is, a mix of cash and digital. Furthermore becoming reliant on digital technologies for our daily lives could be disastrous if such systems fail, face security breaches or hacks, power outages etc. Overall despite this review having a generally negative overtone, I will emphasize that as a customer of Halifax, I have never had any issues with them or needed to contact them or complain about anything but there are things that I am not happy with and concerned about as mentioned. No Interest on basic Current Account

Been with Halifax for many years. I used to get benefits for having a current account but now I don't. I am tempted to move banks to get interest on my current account but it is too much hassle to do so. Reviewed on: 18th June 2024

No issues with the account itself and I’m happy to still have a cheque book as I believe they still have a use. However the app can be confusing at times although the basic functionality of it (ie: day to day use), is pretty simple. It’s just when you try to find certain options, that you get lost! One positive is the lack of charges for unarranged overdrafts which let’s face it, happens to the best of us. I’m very grateful to not be charged for this as I’m on a very low income. Phoned today 11/6/24 regarding a loan I have with Halifax. Spoke to Kirsty (Scottish accent) who was really helpful professional and understanding. Kirsty is a great asset to the company and dealt with the issue quickly and has the patience of a saint ( my youngest kids were making noise throughout!) Reviewed on: 11th June 2024

Customer service is absolutely terrible.

Customer service is absolutely terrible. 80% of the time i had a query regarding a dispute i’d be sent to people who couldn’t speak english properly and when i try conversing with them they’d act like they can’t hear me and cut the phone. Reviewed on: 5th June 2024
