Bad customer service

I have been a customer with Halifax for 10 years and over and over again they have provided shocking customer service. When I was on placement with university they started charging my student overdraft account even though the balance was at 0.. I phoned them up and they said yea we need a "hand written letter from you saying your on placement". I told the guy I was in the USA on placement and asked if I could send an email. No. Asked if I could write a letter, sign it then scan it in an email. No. I had to take half a day off work and get public transport out to the post office to send off a letter saying 'I'm still a student, stop charging me' then pay a fee for charges on my account which was had never been overdrawn. Then after my grandparent dies I put a check for a few thousand pounds in the bank and they froze my account and said they would size my assets unless I provided proof of who I was!! Most recently they have sent me out a new credit card (which I did not request or want as the other one had not expired) on the week I had moved house, to my old address. I phoned up and said that was sent to my old address and I have moved so they had to block my credit card which caused issues with payments that were due to go through and when I said 'can I change my address now' she said you have to go into a branch with a bank statement and utility bill. I have only just moved in so don't have any utility bills yet and how the f*** am I supposed to have a bank statement for my new address to give to the bank to change my address!! Ok well can I go online and do it myself? No. Can I send you's an email? No. We need you to complete a stupid form, take another half day from work and go to the post office to post off a form saying the same thing that I have told the useless person on the phone three times. Most companies don't make customers jump through hoops to get (what should be simple) things done. Think it's easier just to move banks than deal with them any longer. Poor customer service

I was on hold for 30+ minutes before giving up and putting the phone down. Couldn't get through to the customer service team, not happy with the service. I still have questions that need answering however I haven't got the time to be on hold for that long. Not helpful at all. Reviewed on: 24th September 2016

AVOID! Very frustrated! Thinking of changing a bank!

I wanted to transfer my OWN money from my OWN account to my boyfriend's bank account a few times and it didn't go through the last time I did it, so I called Halifax. I was on phone with Halifax for about half an hour if not longer, answered endless security questions and was almost made to feel like some criminal, like I'm doing something illegal and in the end they said, that they can't process the payment, that I need to go to the bank with my ID to do that!! What was the point to call and spend half an hour answering many questions then? It was written to call them to process the payment, but it was useless! To add more, I tried to log in to my online banking, but I couldn't!! They won't let me in, my log in details are suspended after this call!! I could still log in to my bank account this morning before the call! I'm considering changing the bank, because I want to use MY money how I want and to transfer where I want and not having these problems!! AVOID! Reviewed on: 1st September 2016

great way to keep up with the times without having a great credit rating

When I first left home I was a bit naughty with my credit which made it difficult when the time came to get a card that I was able to use online. I finally found the current account card which allowed me to pay bills without having to go out to the post office etc and wait days for payment to be recieved by the repient. It was also helpful during the times I had my children and numerous operations to give me a way to shop online without needing to send cheques or open up accounts with payment platforms. All in all my current account has proved useful in helping me to improve my credit rating, pay my bills and the overdraft proved helpful in my times of need. Reviewed on: 6th August 2016
