More than expected

I've had a savings account with Halifax for a very long time, but never banked with Halifax before. But since I've switched, I've been glad. From their reward accounts bonuses (of £5 interest), to the Credit Cards £5 cash back for £300+ spend - Halifax have made banking with them worthwhile, as well as easy. No fiddly app required to log in online (unlike HSBC/First Direct and Barclays). The staff at a number of branches I've had to go into have always been very helpful. Definitely a bank worth banking with. Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

£5 monthly reward and £100 switch bonus

5
When I opened my account, I was content to receive a £5 monthly reward for my day-to-day banking. I was later pleased to find out that I was entitled to switch my old account and gain a £100 bonus! Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

A regular but small bonus

The monthly £5 bonus for savers is a small extra but certainly below what you could get elsewhere if you have a lot of money in your account. The service i have found to be average over the phone but in branch i am very happy with how efficient the branch is in dealing with queries for who i can get hold of quickly. GREAT VALUE

Switched to this bank after getting fed up with Barclays and the £100 incentive to switch was too good to miss. Switch went through smoothly and I now also get £5 a month which is more than I got with Barclays. Staff in branch helpful - no problems so far. Really pleased Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Stop sending paper bills

When I first opened my account, I opted for paper statements. I got a notification on the online banking platform to switch to paperless statements for all my accounts so I accepted and entered my password to confirm this. However, I am still getting those pesky paper statements and also the message online telling me to switch when I have done so twice now. Not impressed, Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Decent account with a nice little bonus every month for no effort

My housemate and I use this as a joint account to deal with the household bills. We each pay in a certain amount each month which easily covers the required £750 credit required as one of the qualifying criteria. Paying all our bills from it via various direct debits means we have the second criteria. We pay enough in to cover the bills and then some so the account is always in credit, this means through just running the account we earn £5 per month for nothing - great! We upgraded to the account from what Halifax's kiddycard account (Easycash) so I can't comment on the application process and we didn't get the £100 bonus for switching but the upgrade was smooth and carried out quickly. We have had no problems running the account, we don't have an overdraft so I can't comment on that. Halifax Online is easy to use although their app could be improved, it's a bit dated and the functionality isn't as good as other banks' apps I've used. This means I usually use the website for online banking which is fine. We haven't had to contact Halifax about the account since having it so no comment on the customer service but all round this is a good account which fits certain circumstances. For us it means £60 per year we wouldn't otherwise have had so can'tbe too bad! Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

Easy Peasy

Have had this account for several years now - its so easy - pay in £750 per month, have 2 x direct debits and as long as I stay in credit during the whole month even by just 1p I get a £5 reward direct into my account the following month. A no-brainer - what's not to like. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2015

Really great account. Not so great customer service.

Whilst this account is absolutely fantastic for rewards and suchlike, the customer service really leaves something to be desired. They really need to work on it! Reviewed on: 14th August 2015

Brilliant customer service and rewards on top as well!

My partner and myself are currently in the process of buying a house. We wanted to have a joint bank account and went for our meeting with Halifax. The advisor we spoke to was very professional and friendly, not pushing us but letting us choose which account suited our needs, Needless to say we went with the reward account. All we have to do is put in £750 a month and have two direct debits set up. As long as we don't go overdrawn, we will be rewarded with and a extra £5 a month. Fantastic! When we've bought our house I'm thinking of changing my personal current account to Halifax as well! They'll even do all the work themselves to have me as a customer! Reviewed on: 10th August 2015
