Review of the HSBC, Bank account:

Poor customer Service

1
Having been left the executor of my late sister's estate, I had the task of dealing with her accounts that were held with HSBC. At the time, I was very emotional as my sister died very suddenly. I found the bereavement department to be very unhelpful and was actually brought to tears by a very young and rude female and unhelpful member of staff. I was so upset I didn't phone back for at least a month. This call was completely different. I spoke to a lovely Irish gentleman who was so helpful and understanding, a real pleasure to deal with. He knew his area of expertise perfectly and was able to help me with everything I needed and eventually sorted the accounts for me. I just takes that one person to get HSBC that negative review in the way they treated me, but also proves they have some wonderful staff who are willing to help you in your time of need. Grateful thanks to the Irish gentleman who works in the banks bereavement section. Reviewed on: 15th February 2023

Not great - feels tired

HSBC are not as impressive as I had thought they were before becoming a customer. Many of their physical branches are closing down, the phone service is a bit variable, and the app is not user-friendly. Reviewed on: 21st January 2022

Inept, rude unhelpful

1
I was asked to go through a customer info review. The most stressful thing I've done all year. Their information on the signatories hadn't been updated, despite submitting change of name forms, marriage certs and a death cert etc. Because their info was incorrect I could not talk to advisors as I could not provide up to date info. I was told wrong information by online chat advisors, told the account would be closed with little notice. The account had been a free of charge community account for 20 + years, then without warning it became a fee paying business account. Unable to talk to anybody again because they still don't hold the correct info. Branches didn't want to know. Absolute shambles. Now going through switching service to new bank which will ptibably fail because HSBC haven't updates. Rude and unhelpful on the very rare occasion that I have got through. Shocking.
