Cost is rising

The monthly cost is rising and I'm considering moving my banking. As a small business, it would also be nice to have a branch locally but it closed down. Reviewed on: 14th January 2022

out of the box not fit for purpose

trying to pay my corp tax and there seem to be a 10k cap on payments.... ok i thought like the personal account I'll do it in two goes... er no I can only pay 10k per day?.... from a business account!! witch i pay for the privilege of having, oh well here's to the next hour on the phone getting told because of covid we can't be bothered to man or staff the helpline to cope with the problems we have caused! Stay safe stay sane stay away

Their safeguarding team close account with no notice and freeze your money. You can’t pay wages, suppliers but they keep accepting payments in! Hold on phone for 2 hours plus. No email response. HSBC cause detrimental losses to your company and mind. Reviewed on: 14th December 2021

awful draconian bank with no urgency for customers time.

This bank think it is acceptable to not give easy access to account details and think it is ok to have you on hold forever!! trying to run a business here! They rely on the amount of hassle caused by changing bank. Reviewed on: 14th December 2021

OVERALL RATING ZERO - WILL NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL! HSBC applied £1000 chargeback to business card - I had to visit the branch twice and after a month managed to get them to put the £1000 back on the card account then take it out again and then pop it back in again. Redid online banking security process twice and now when they ask for my sort code, account number and dob the response it these details are not recognised. Oh and now they have blocked the card (fraudulent transaction) - fair enough and sent me a new card, new details, etc, BUT IT IS BLOCKED TOO! Will have to visit the branch again and listen to them dialing the same number I have to dial (no internal comms ?!?!?) and wait for the same menu etc etc. Utterly unbelieveable. In most cases to date when I get through on a call back on the phone I am passed to different parties on average three times. Each time requests authorisation and then passes me on again - I have been with HSBC 21 years and wil be moving to NatWest - free online service that moves your accounts in seven days! closed my account despite balance of £200K

living abroad and could not change mail address because you cannot do it over the phone and could not go in to branch because I am overseas. Account inactive so they decided to close it and send me a cheque to an old address because I had been unable to change my address. had to wait 90 minutes to speak to someone, never mind the cost of the call from Australia. No real resolution to the situation. Even if the cheque has not been fraudulently cashed (they could not tell me) they will issue another and I will not have a bank account to pay it into. Lots of apologies from the agent but the service is terrible and it is not fair that they put their staff on the front line to deal with this nonsense Reviewed on: 9th November 2021

WITH HSBC OVER 20 YEARS AVOID

With HSBC for over 20 years have not moved address in over 15 years (home owner) Marker placed on my account never told about this until today at hsbc branch when i asked why the marker put on they had no answer . Tried to make appointment with manager to be told no i cannot see a manager. avoid hsbc if you can. Reviewed on: 27th October 2021

What banking?

I’ve been with HSBC for my personal account since it took over the Midland Bank. I’ve had my business account for over 15 years. They’ve closed so many branches it’s ridiculous, leaving me with a choice of 2 branches. 2 weeks ago I went to the most local bank…. It was shut for ‘refurbishment’…. Couldn’t they have done that BEFORE they shut several other local branches? Today I went to pay in my cash and cheques and get some change for my small business and they were open, yaaaay! I don’t know what’s been ‘refurbished’, other than the lack of bank tellers. YES, they are a bank that now NO LONGER TAKE CASH OR CHEQUES! No teller services AT ALL…. But hang on, I can pay in at the Post Office. So I’m paying for a business bank account from a ‘bank’ that no longer offers any banking services I need…. 15 years loyalty…. Bye bye HSBC, I’m very disappointed that you’re forcing people in to a digital world when so many people still deal with cash. Reviewed on: 25th October 2021
