It's outrageous that you are unable to cancel your subscription renewal online

It's ridiculous that they make it as hard as possible to cancel your renewal. After being on hold for 15 minutes, the call centre agent even confirmed that there is no way to cancel the policy online and you have to do it over the phone. If they're as scandalous with their claims as they are with their basic business practices, I would avoid. Reviewed on: 20th February 2022

Wouldn't insure me!

I tried to get a quote for contents insurance as my Grandmother had previously had good rates for her buildings insurance with them. However, they wouldn't insure me as the postcode was in an area at risk of flooding even though I live in a 2nd floor flat, a long way from the river. My Grandmother, who lives closer to the river than me, in a bungalow did get insurance! Reviewed on: 28th December 2016

John Lewis Home Insurance - Not a good experience on first ever claim

John Lewis Home Insurance 'Premier' Cover - it is our first Claim ever made on any Home Insurance by us with any company, and has not been a good experience at all so far! Been 6 plus weeks since we made the Claim due to water leak in Bathroom: has been a catalogue of poor and often conflicting information, numerous and sometimes even conflicting information from contractors in contact with us. And all this before any repair work even commences! Not a good experience and not one we would recommend. Only by going direct and making a formal complaint to John Lewis Head Office did things start to get going, but we are now back to conflicting information and apparent confusion all round again. We just hope that when repair work finally happens, that its all it should be? Would not recommend service so far at all, and this is supposed to be the top 'Premier' cover (although it is not actually John Lewis anyway, you are dealing direct with Royal Sun Alliance). We expected and had hoped for better service with a John Lewis product! Reviewed on: 17th November 2016

Simple home insurance - no fuss

I've had home insurance with John Lewis for a couple of years now. I found the online application not too onerous, and easy to choose different levels/inclusions exclusions such as accidental damage. I haven't had to claim, so can't comment on that. But overall it's been fuss free and simple and reasonable value with a brand I trust. Reviewed on: 1st August 2016

We needed to make a claim on our John Lewis Home Insurance and the service was exceptional. From start to finish we dealt with the same person, who was easy to get hold of, friendly and efficient. I switched to John Lewis Home Insurance as my previous insurer kept jacking up the premiums. When my mountain bike was stolen I didn't think I'd recover its full value as it was four years old. The claim handler at John Lewis Insurance was a cycling expert and was very efficient and knowledgeable - he took me through the options and helped me find this year's equivalent bike from the same manufacturer Reviewed on: 6th November 2015
