I upgraded my Lloyds Current account to Club Lloyds recently. It was very easy to upgrade and I am getting a good rate of interest.

I decided to upgrade my account because of the good rate of interest. The process of upgrading was so easy and my account runs like a dream. I like being able to do everything online and not having to go into a branch. As an added bonus I also get a free 12 months' subscription to a magazine of my choice. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

Would not recommend Lloyds, their processes are very old fashioned and difficult. Proved incredibly difficult to open a joint club Lloyds account and we wanted to try and meet the switching offer deadline but had to wait for an activation code in the post. We spoke to Lloyds on the phone and they could offer no alternatives and there was no way we could speed up the process, they suggested going into a branch but they had no appointments available in the next 3 weeks. They should give warning that in becoming a new Lloyds customer you need to wait at least a week for a code to be sent in the post and it’s stupid that you can’t set up a joint account together on the phone Reviewed on: 4th February 2026

One step forward and two steps back.

Wanting to transfer a large amount of funds to a payee, I ended up in the ludicrous situation of having to visit a branch to execute this. The lengthy phone call (some 80 minutes) to establish that it’s no longer possible to do this by phoning a special number, let alone on-line, makes a mockery of the endless cajoling this bank employs to persuade its customers that it’s “much quicker on-line”. But two years previously just a phone call was possible but Lloyds have removed this facility. Reviewed on: 1st February 2026
