M&S Bank - Marks and Spencer Car insurance reviews (104)

Review of the M&S Bank - Marks and Spencer, Car insurance:

ripped of by big brand name marks and specer

1
hi i had two months insurance left on my 2004 saab 2.3 turbo car. i changed my car to a small 1997 fiat 900 cc car and asked them to change insurance over for the last two months and they said i couldn't and i would have to have a full 12 months cover. my saab was £630.00 for the year so they gave me a best quote of £1000.00 for a 900 cc car. i couldn't believe it, so i told them that i didn't want it so they are charging me £20.00 admin charge and £50.00 cancellation fee. they should be ashamed of themselves because i didn't want to cancel my policy but they didn't let me put new car on for the rest of my policy, they were just trying to get more money out me. there has been big articles in the papers recently about car insurance companies ripping people off and this a prime example of that. i then went on line and got the same cover for my 900 cc car for £185.00. what would you do £1000.00 or £185.00. i never thought that a company like marks and spencer would stoop as low as some of the companies that are giving insurance companies such a bad reputation but they have. when i phone them back to discuss it they didn't want to know they just passed me to debt collection company and now i will have to go to court. every other insurance company in the past if you changed your car they just swapped it over on your insurance no problem and you paid the difference more or less depending on what car you had. don't go near this company marks and spencer they are just thieving parasites. Despite my many previous confirmations not to renew...

Despite my many previous confirmations not to renew my car insurance policy, I have been advised this morning by email that you have renewed it and taken payment from my account. I had already accepted a more competitive quote from another insurer at 50% of your renewable quote. I want the money taken to be returned to my account by the end of today 10.07.24. otherwise I will take legal action. Reviewed on: 10th July 2024

Motor insurance rubbish

1
Asked for an increase in premium of£200+, plus £25 admin fee for changing the registration number on my wife’s car,she had put her personal number on retention. If she hadn’t needed to change the number the premium agreed in January would stay the same until renewal next January. Have emailed Steve Machin, CEO for an explanation, not very hopeful though. Won’t be renewing with M&S next year. Totally useless, wish we hadn’t gone by M&S good (!!!!!) name and had read the reviews - won’t do that again Reviewed on: 24th March 2024

Bad service; Bas business

Price increase of over 30 quid yet the customers service is appalling. Just got off vireetual chat and Saba was nasty to talk to. Looking for elsewhere now. Reviewed on: 4th March 2024

Astronomical increase in car insurance

1
My policy automatically renewed with premium jumping 5 1/2 times what it was “due to cost of living increase”. I have made a complaint as I am not happy that M & S are being as open & transparent as they should be. Reviewed on: 30th November 2023

Rip off at Renewal

1
My wife's motor insurance is due for renewal on 25 November. Got an email.this morning with quote for next 12 months 90 % increase over last premium. I thought it a bit steep as I had tested the market with Go Compare. I rang to explain my concern and hit a blank wall which effectively said the it or leave it. I left!!!. Got a much better deal from Go Compare including £250 free excess Reviewed on: 29th October 2023

Avoid

1
This company must be the worst company iv ever had to deal with regarding car insurance. 2 x hard credit searches completed on me within 2 days and I have a good credit history. The attitude when I complained was Basicly "So WHAT WE CAN DO WHAT WE WANT" they are not padticully cheap-thankfully I have now a company car so won't be using them-please stamp your feet and avoid. RIP fFF RENEWAL QUOTE

1
I am very disappointed with the renewal service. I was quoted nearly 480 to renew (up from 245) , from a different company (Ageas) for renewal. I had a NEW quote from the SAME company as last year (LV- FLOW) at only 280. They are meant to be brokers!!!! Reviewed on: 20th September 2023

UNFORGIVEABLE

1
AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Been loyal customer for over 10 years, car insurance was confirmed on automatic renewal, they cancelled without notice leaving me uninsured - criminal!!! Reviewed on: 2nd September 2023
