getting better

After the initial teething problems things are now improving. Just one or two quibbles, nothing to warrant complaining about. The app does not use fingerprint sign in, nor can you review login info incase of typos. Pass unit is annoying at times. But otherwise I am happy. Reviewed on: 25th September 2018

"New-fashioned banking"? Old-fashioned incompetence!

I wish had read these reviews before switching - in fact I (almost) wish I'd stayed with TSB! I should have heeded the warning signs, when it took three long phone calls, three application forms and over six weeks to actually open the account. The little code generator is a joke - First Direct (also part of HSBC) ditched these years ago for phone-generated codes and even then they're only needed for some transactions. Did I make a mistake?

At the end of the online application I was told I was successful. I hear nothing from them so called after 2 weeks only to be told that the form I returned was not complete. Sent in another. Heard nothing. After another 2 weeks was told that I was in the process of having the account set up. Finally got account number, debit card and pin 6 weeks after original application. Customer service appalling

I had a dispute regarding £400 not dispensed from cash point. M&S customer service initially were helpful and credited my account pending investigation. 7 months later a message was left on my voicemail to call them. I called and spoke to customer service rep who informed me they decided against me and debited the £400 money that day. Not helpful at all to open a basic account

Trying to open an account without requesting credit cards for my wife has been a mission impossible. Asking same question in three different occasions. Very unprofessional. She decided to cancel her application in Mark&Spencer after waiting almost 1 month. Finally opened one at HSBC. M&S doesn’t understand bank business. It’s no a professional bank. Couldn't even get the application right!

It took over two months to process my application. They asked additional information twice and then rejected me! I have a mortgage! No other debts or loans and a full time job. I'm pretty sure if I can get a mortgage, I can qualify for an M&S account. And believe me, applying for a mortgage was faster, easier and less annoying. Reviewed on: 12th June 2018

Robbed!

Tried to pay my bill online as I usually do! The payment wouldn't process! When I checked my bank account they had taken the payment twice £650! Twice! 1 week on I'm still waiting for a refund currently I'm over drawn!! Reviewed on: 11th April 2018

Not Impressed

Tried their switching service and was looking forward to the introductory offer plus a regular savings account - I have spent so much time on the phone (40 mins then 43 mins then 30 mins) with no success at all - sorry - I did receive 3 of their sign in devices!!! I have now given up and will need to set up my DD's yet again with First Direct who actually know what they doing. M&S Advertising and Promises are impressive - Delivery of their promises is not. convenient banking and excellent customer service

I recently switched to M&S using their Switch and Save and I couldn't believe how easy it was. No fuss, good communication throughout, and once you get used to using the little M&S Pass you need for internet banking, it's all very straightforward. I cant fault their customer service - I can message them with any queries via my internet banking screen, which I couldn't with my previous bank, and paying in cheques is so convenient because their bank is open when their stor...
