Communication could be a bit better.

There was some confusion over payment days which has lead to a bad mark on my credit history. So communication wasn't the absolute best. Also, my new mortgage rate comes into effect now-ish and I've had no communication regarding that. Reviewed on: 10th February 2025

The most helpful wonderful building society - Sophie was AMAZING

I've been with Mansfield for 3 years and throughout they've been so helpful and competent. Recently I've gone through a transfer of equity which is never an easy thing and everyone I've dealt with has been amazing, even when my solicitors have been a nightmare. I want to give a specific shout out to Sophie Cook who was so helpful. She was so kind and would talk me through the process, helped me with the application and wrote parts of it for me, escalating and communicating with the business when needed and also treating me with so much respect and compassion from end to end. I couldn't be more grateful and I now feel a sense of loyalty to Mansfield from this. I can't thank you all enough. Reviewed on: 21st September 2021

Simply Great

I had trouble getting a mortgage to previous bad choices financially which meant I struggled to get a mortgage anywhere else. And the Mansfield looked at me as an individual rather than just a credit score. Reviewed on: 16th September 2021

Mortgage process and costs

I have to say that everyone I have spoken to at the Mansfield, two separate ladies were both cheerful, friendly and competent. What more could you ask. The paperwork was manageable for a luddite like myself so was very happy. The only downside was the set up cost which seemed to me onerous. Reviewed on: 15th September 2021

The society was recommended by our Financial Advisor following an annual review of our finance needs and plans. I had never heard of The MBS prior to that but the mortgage offer was reasonable and rates have remained so over the years. Correspondence and statement have been clear and easy to understand and all telephone queries dealt with promptly and efficiently. Reviewed on: 11th September 2021

The Mansfield building society made it possible for us to get on the property ladder and we thank them for giving us that opportunity. We would have stayed with them but unfortunately due to our circumstances of Staircasing our house to 100% they couldn’t help. Customer service always excellent when ever I needed to call and if they needed to let us know anything we always had plenty of notice to action any requests. 10/10 Reviewed on: 31st August 2021

Both while setting up the mortgage and during the period of the mortgage everyone at the Mansfield was very helpful. My disappointment was leaving and that was because the Mansfield has no flexibility in its rules. We were happy and wanted to stay, but the Mansfield were unable to offer a product which is on offer with them, but not to us. Rules are there as a guidance and should be used as such, not in concrete. The product which was on offer at the Mansfield we have taken elsewhere. Reviewed on: 25th August 2021

Later in life mortgage

Mansfield were one of the early ones with retirement mortgages. I had great service from them, I only changed to get a rolling retirement mortgage. Reviewed on: 19th August 2021
