Monzo offer a free bank account for under 16s, with controls set by their parent or guardian.

Kids get their own neon card and can see their money in the Monzo app. Parents or Guardians can keep an eye on the account, set spending limits and schedule pocket money.

Monzo for under 16 is amazing, they have control over there spending but so do you as you can place daily limits on their spending. They can also use pots to save. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

Superb bank for all the family

I’ve banked with them for years and was delighted to open an under 16s account for my daughter when she became old enough. She really appreciates the pots for her savings. I really like that I have clear oversight over her spending and she’s gaining financial skills that will help her in adulthood. Everyone’s a winner! Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

Easy to monitor but gives independence

I have opened two child accounts for my two children. Monzo allows me to keep a close eye on what they are spending their money on, but also allows them the independence of having their own account and card. I particularly like the notifications when my child uses their card. It is also extremely easy to transfer money into their account and share a link for someone else to do so too. Overall I really think the Monzo under 16’s account is perfect. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026
