Superb Bank with excellent facilities

Ive used Monzo now for over 4 years as a personal customer (I have a Premium account) , more recently have a joint account with my wife and I also have a business account for a B2L property. Overall I am very satisified with the account and the facilities offered. For me the app is brilliant to run the account day to day, everything is clear and very easy to use. Monzo Flex is a fantastic facility giving you 3 months interest free as many times as you need. The instant access savings account pays decent interest and my wife now makes good use of this. Monzo now links with Wise and so its very easy to make fast currency transfers (I often make Euro transfers), the rates are very good, nothing is hidden and you even get a little cash back on the Premium account. My only observation is that customer service can be a little slow at times, with chat support not always initially understanding the request, that said its very little different to some other banks call centres. WARNING: Monzo Bank is the worst bank I have ever dealt with.

Monzo bank allowed 3 unauthorised transactions to be taken from my account (more than 355 euros). I reported the problem over 2 weeks ago and I have explained that I am in financial difficulty and there is serious customer detriment as a result of their action. I contact them most days repeating this and asking that they refund my money - however all I get is "I am so sorry for the delay" and "thanks for your patience". The Monzo team hide behind email and text "chat" and have no interest or ability to call you to talk to you to resolve the problem. Their processes are such that they ask actively encourage customers to send in personal data and documents by insecure email. Do not use this bank under any circumstances!!! People can take money from your account and you cannot stop it, and once it happens it may take weeks or months or even longer to get your money back. Everyone else...... if you want to keep your money and you account safe, I stongly recommend that you choose a different bank! Reviewed on: 28th November 2023

they froze my account and then ignored me

This is what i wrote to them, no reply Hello I'm a new customer at Monza and I joined because you advertise as a crypto friendly uk bank. I transferred £8450 last week from my premium bonds to my HSBC account, this was credited on Friday 10th Nov, I then transferred the £8450 to my new Monza account to purchase shares in crypto which I have done for many yrs via HSBC and NATWEST. I sent £4500 to my bitget trading platform and i was buying £4k of solana shares via moonpay, This would go directly into my web 3 wallet.You let the £4500 go through to Bitget but froze the payment via moonpay and then froze my account.This was at 12 pm Friday 10th By 7.30 pm i have had a thorough conversation with your scam team to inform them that i wasn't being scammed, i had shown that i understand the industry and that i had trading platforms in my personal name I also have various web 3 wallet that i own the keys too., Since the conversation ended at 7.30 on Friday, Monza was aware that there was no fraud so my account should have been unfrozen, however this is not the case and as now at 12pm sunday i have tried and tried to speak to anybody that will provide me with an update, Nobody will speak to me and i'm unable to leave this bank. I have a £4k credit due to hit the account mon or tue and I'm terrified that this will bounce back to a trading company's miscellaneous account which may be hard to find, potentially losing all the money.I've told Monza but nobody will listen and do anything to help me, Why have i been treated like this I've not been scammed and you now know that I've not committed bank fraud or check fraud I have committed money laundering. I even provided you with my HSBC bank account to show you the funds came from my account.You can see the credit from my premium bonds and my transfer to Monza, I've done absolutely nothing wrong I have never in my life been treated like this but I now feel the victim of a scam. You see an organisation advertised as crypto friendly so you join, you transfer your money in good faith and make a crypto payment and the company freezes your assets, Suddenly you can't get your money and NOBODY from the organisation will speak to you. It has been 4 days on Monday since I lost my ability to move my money. What should I do? I desperately want my money Back and leave this organisation, they can't be trusted I'm just hoping you can help me with this fraud I've been a Corporate Director at HSBC and Barclays for over 20- yrs so I'm fully aware what Banks can do, but i can honestly say to ignore a customer that has provided you with all the information and hasn't done anything wrong is disgusting I want my bank account unfreezing and the freedom to leave this Bank with MY money with immediate effect. They blocked our account without any reason on Friday evening and go for the weekend. Now it is Sunday evening and still no access. Don’t use them at least not for your main account! Reviewed on: 5th November 2023

Modern app

Excellent app gives convenient oversight of my accounts. Great "trends" feature helps manage my mortgage overpayments and plan for the future. New investments feature looks very interesting. Much better than my other banking apps. Reviewed on: 14th October 2023

Fraudulent Activity, Lost Money, Monzo Blames Us and Closes Account!

My son's account was hacked with two large payments taken out amounting to over £1000! We reported it to Monzo, it took them ages to get back, only to say that they don't feel that these two payments were fraud and that they are closing the account! What a BS of a bank! We will be taking legal action against Monzo and closing all Monzo accounts within the family! STAY AWAY FROM MONZO! Reviewed on: 4th October 2023

Free travel insurance

Company are ok and seem trustworthy. With their Premium account (£15 per month) you get free travel insurance for yourself and partner so works out about same as buying it if not a bit cheaper plus you can withdraw up to £600 (I think) when abroad, so another bonus. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2023
