Great extras

Dreadful

Their fraud department rejected a large but bona fide sum of money. No one at Nationwide had any idea where it was - the receiving bank eventually got it back once they knew it was missing. Customer service was appalling - they couldn’t have cared less.. I made a formal complaint and they then sent a blank copy of the complaints response letter.! I wrote to the CEO with no reply either. There has been a litany of issues with Nationwide over the last five years - very disappointing . Reviewed on: 17th December 2019

Disappointed with charges

I banked with Nationwide for about 11 years, until very recently. The service I’ve received from Nationwide has always been good, and the staff in branch are always great, but the charges levied on my account were ridiculous. I’m self employed with no fixed pay date, so I’m a typical month I was being charged around £60 for missing direct debits. I understand the reasoning, but the amount is ridiculous. As a result I’ve fallen behind on my bills, had more charges and so on. I’m reluctant to recommend Nationwide based on this. Reviewed on: 14th December 2019

Friendly and convenient

I moved from another bank because of increasingly poor and distant service. I couldn’t be happier with the move. A smaller company, better service and a more personal interaction. Exactly what I was missing at my last bank. Reviewed on: 12th December 2019

No problems

I have never had a problem with Nationwide. They are very zealous about card security and have blocked my cards when scammers have managed to get my details. The only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because their customer service on the phone can be a tad slow. It also has the annoying automated thing you have to talk to. Also it’s hard to find the customer service number on their website; they obviously want you to try online customer service options first. But this is annoying when you know your issue can only be dealt with over the phone. Reviewed on: 29th November 2019
