If you’re eligible for an overdraft, the first £50 is interest free. The FlexDirect account has to be managed online or over the phone, not at the branch.

Fair share payments and great service.

I have benefited from £150 in payments from Nationwide and find their app easy to use. There’s a branch in town if I need to speak to someone in person or pay in money. The staff are friendly and helpful. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Simply the best

The Nationwide FlexPlus account is a strong option for anyone looking for an all-in-one current account with added benefits. While it comes with a monthly fee, it offers good value through its packaged extras, especially for people who travel or want built-in insurance. One of the biggest advantages is the worldwide family travel insurance, which includes winter sports and covers pre-existing medical conditions (subject to acceptance). The mobile phone insurance is another highlight, covering multiple phones for the account holder and their family. Breakdown cover across the UK and Europe adds further peace of mind and makes the account particularly appealing for drivers. The account also benefits from Nationwide’s solid customer service and user-friendly mobile app, making everyday banking simple and reliable. However, the FlexPlus account doesn’t offer interest on balances, and the monthly fee may not be worth it for those who won’t use the insurance benefits. Overall, the Nationwide FlexPlus account is excellent value for people who would otherwise pay separately for travel insurance, phone insurance, and breakdown cover. Looking for an A1 account?

As a customer of Nationwide for nearly 20 years. I have found them to be fair, and always striving to be better: by regularly introducing new customer products and incentives. This is reflected within all of their products, offering a whole host of services.
