My first home was mortgaged with Halifax and my current home is mortgaged with NatWest. I never had a bad word to say about Halifax but I would say that NatWest have been more incontact. The app is really quite good as I can see exactly where my mortgage stands and I can access this at anytime, their call centre staff seem knowledgeable and the waiting time hasn't been too long when I've needed to phone. The only thing I would say is that some of their processes are a bit in the stone age... Like having to send a written letter in to update your contact details? There's no real reason why the call centre staff should be prevented from updating your details over the phone but I suppose it did make me find out where my local postbox is! Shocking

Shocking bank I earn close to 55 a year never missed a payment I have a very small mortgage I was looking at taking money from the house due to flood damage (insurance didn’t wanna help NatWest also) knocked me back said I couldn’t afford it which I comfortably can? I would avoid this bank like the plague unless your wealthy they have no interest in the common person out of touch if I could give 0 stars I would Reviewed on: 4th January 2023

Endless errors nearly caused us to abort!

We are in the process of taking out a 5 year fixed first time buyers mortgage with NatWest. NatWest managed to record the wrong address on the loan offer letter despite valuing the correct house. It then took several weeks to amend the address on the offer letter, which takes about 5 minutes to do. We finally received the revised letter through ready for exchange and the postcode is still wrong! Every time you speak to them or request basic changes it’s a minimum 7 day wait time and usually far longer. They’ve been a nightmare to deal with from the start and I wouldn’t recommend choosing them as a provider! Absolute nightmare! Reviewed on: 9th December 2022

Took ages and then declined.

My partner and I earn £80k a year, and were going after a relatively cheap house of £225k, with a £200k mortgage. NatWest tooks weeks and weeks and wasted out time..Because my partner is the director of their own company, NatWest didn't seem to want to lend us any money, even though we've spend years and years paying rent to greedy landlords and never missed a payment. They seem to not want to help people who are self employed or run their own company. I'd suggest avoiding them of you are in a similar circumstances. Useless bank - DO NOT TRUST

They messed up my application. They somehow found a different property in my name when there was nothing on my credit file to indicate this. Then they blamed the broker. I raised a complaint and they still haven't responded and now breached FCA regulations. Trying to reach them is impossible. Save yourself the hassle and avoid them Reviewed on: 15th October 2022

Random unnecessary changes

I can no longer view my balance after each transaction on the app. This useful feature was removed for some reason and there are similar pointless changes whenever the app gets updated. Reviewed on: 6th August 2022

Delayed process, wrong valuation and worst service

They delay the process without making you aware. Working very close to the deadline so if you miss the deadline with the current mortgage provider you will have to pay variable rate. Isnt professional at all, please shop around. Reviewed on: 2nd August 2022

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Very close to losing sale and purchase, application 24 days in when selected for a "random" UW review, 36 days in no resolution, BDM offered no timescale, phoned daily to be told "don't know" day 38 gave up and moved on. Absolutely no care or consideration given to the customer, doesn't help when everyone is seemingly working from home either. Reviewed on: 19th July 2022
