Really friendly, helpful staff and also easy to add funds by internet as well.

I met staff of Newbury Building Society at Abingdon Air Show and liked the sound of the account which I subsequently opened in branch. The service I received in branch was very good and the whole process was very smooth. Since then I have used internet access which again is very user-friendly (I'm not computer-savvy, so need simple systems!). Reviewed on: 4th January 2018

Simple yet secure.

Given what my bank was offering in interest on my savings account after some research decided to open an online savings account with the Newbury Building society. Their rates were competitive without having to commit to a fixed period of time. The application was simple yet reassuringly secure in its process online. Reviewed on: 9th June 2023

Why is it so hard to save?

Four members of staff (visible) in branch, no customers, other than ourselves, and we enquire about opening an ISA, we were advised that an appointment should be booked, but they would process it there and then (almost inferring that they were doing us a favour)! When did it become such a difficult procedure to save money? Reviewed on: 9th June 2023

Excellent service. efficient and friendly staff; a joy to do business with.

The staff member went through the details of the new EMA Bond (31st July 2025), explained the impact of interest only being added at the account maturity date and made sure I was fully aware of the Ts & Cs. The branch staff in Winchester are always friendly, efficient and fully competent. I have no hesitation in recommending Newbury Building Society to friends and colleagues. Reviewed on: 9th June 2023

Opening a fixed rate bond

All explained clearly by Rachel Hackett transferring funds from EMA a/c to bond. Unlike some banks Newbury BS operates a fair for savers and those with a mortgage. Reviewed on: 9th June 2023

Opening a new EMA Bond

Although I had difficulties trying to open the account on line I was pleased with the professional assistance I had opening the account in the Branch Office. Reviewed on: 9th June 2023
