I met staff of Newbury Building Society at Abingdon Air Show and liked the sound of the account which I subsequently opened in branch. The service I received in branch was very good and the whole process was very smooth. Since then I have used internet access which again is very user-friendly (I'm not computer-savvy, so need simple systems!). Reviewed on: 4th January 2018

Nice and easy

I am an existing member and recently open an online account with NBS and it was much smoother than I was expected and in a few days my account is linked to the online and able to see the details. Much better experience than I have had with other provider. Reviewed on: 4th June 2021

Very Helpful

We had been with a previous Building Society for 30+ years, but they would not help us with changing to another account with them in Branch, so we withdrew our savings and popped in the our local Branch of Newbury Building Society (without an appointment) and we were able to open the account we wanted, straight away. Excellent help from very knowledgeable staff.

I am disabled and arrived at the Didcot branch on my mobility scooter. The NBS representative was extremely helpful in assisting my entry into the branch and then dealing with my change in address and telephone details. After a discussion regarding an amount of money I had to invest. the representative showed me the alternative investments i could make with NBS, and I chose a suitable product for my needs, which from my own personal previous research, I would find hard to beat. The process in setting this up was very quick and confirming details arrived in the post the next day. I cannot thank the NBS representative enough and would recommend NBS to anyone in the local Newbury area as being better than any of any of the alternative national financial institutions. Opened a new account. The opening process was a little old-fashioned (paper form and post) but the communications and speed of transaction were stunning. Even had a follow up call to check all was okay. Hats off to the Alton branch. Reviewed on: 28th May 2021

Good rate, slow set up

The Welcome to Newbury savings account gives a market leading rate but opening the account as a new customer is long winded and slow. The online application form has to be downloaded, printed out, completed and posted to the Society. Also, the form is for different types of account, which is not entirely obvious when completing for the first time. I did not complete a section asking what type of account was to be opened so this caused a further delay. If the form could be completed online, such omissions could easily be highlighted when completing the form and this type of issue avoided. Additionally, there is no option to make an initial deposit electronically at the outset. I had to wait for my account details to be posted to me before I could do this as opposed to sending a cheque with my posted application. This caused a further delay of just over two weeks as the initial letter from the Society failed to arrive. Reviewed on: 28th May 2021

Opening an EMA and connecting the NBS App

Leanne was really great, I called to try and sort out how I could connect a new savings account to see it both on the NBSApp and online using 'myaccounts'.
