I insured my vehicle with this company because of the name, wrongly thinking they would offer a great service but NO, they weren't interested so gave me the underwriters phone number, WESYBAY, never ever have I dealt with such cowboys, I complained to the RAC as it was them I paid but they couldn't help, Westbay told me my car was a right off without even seeing a photo, when challenged, they said parts were hard to come by given its age, its 12 years old with extremely low milage. October 2023 was when the accident occurred, my vehicle was fixed in January 2024, I was refused a courtesy car, Enterprise then called me to see if they could give me a car but because I had been told it was a fault claim they couldn't offer one either. Neither of us were at fault, the highways confirmed and sent an email confirming that traffic lights were not working, we both left on a green light thus causing the accident, how is this a fault claim? I received a letter which stated I should of taken more care, you go on a GREEN light. I was told to go to Richardsons the nominated garage to see if the car could be repaired, on arrival, I was told by a lady eating crisps on reception that I was early and the surveyor was at lunch, not a problem, waited, tried to make conversation and was pretty much ignored, made to feel like an inconvenience, the surveyor took all of five minutes to look at the car and said he couldn't tell me anything, it was a bumper for goodness sake. I got a quote from an independent garage who were eventually approved after me calling them again for an update, the garage was challenged saying it should be written off, Westbay were told that a payout would be less than the car was worth. Over three months to get a bumper fixed?, I wouldn't recommend anyone to use the RAC and Westbay, their staff do not give out their surnames, not allowed to WHAT? minus 0 out 10 would be given and that is generous Reviewed on: 27th January 2024

I explained to RAC that I was struggling with the cost of living and thinking about cancelling my membership. The customer service team were so helpful by offering to help spread my payments, adding deals to my package, and even giving me three months free. 10/10 Reviewed on: 1st June 2023

Appalling service watch for this con.

I made a mistake when applying for insurance. I entered the wrong date of an accident in that I dated the accident July 2020 when in actual fact the accident was September 2020. I also put that I was not at fault as it was a named driver who had the accident. Apparently as it was my policy I am at fault. The premium JUMPED by £358.64 to a total cost of £684.85. I cancelled the insurance. Went back onto an insurance comparison site with the now amended details and who should come up at a price of just under £400. Yes you,ve got it the RAC. So they wanted to charge over £200.00 for an error. I had also paid for my no claims to be protected. Reviewed on: 20th May 2023

Avoid the RAC Car Insurance

Truly awful to deal with and after we received our certificate we received a letter stating they would cancel our motor policy unless we paid extra administrative fees which they had added at a later stage. This company needs investigating by some sort of Insurance Authority. Avoid them at all costs. They are very difficult to contact once they get your money. Reviewed on: 13th May 2023

Terrible data management shocking systems to rip people off

If this company was based abroad, I would have thought this was a scan. They charged me £20 as they took the payment form card details from 12 months ago without checking with me the customer. RAC DO NOT DESERVE ANY STARS.

Incident in September 2022 and I’m STILL waiting for car to be repaired. Informed the earliest available appointment to sort car issues is 22 May!! This, despite car being assessed by garage in October…….. Charged £25 admin fee because I failed to tell them I’d taken early retirement! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!! Reviewed on: 10th May 2023

Unacceptable amount of time to receive money for written off vehicle

Had my car written off in February after it was hit by a driver while parked outside my house. Other drivers insurance have admitted liability. Unacceptable amount of time of 11 weeks on & still waiting for the money owed for my written off vehicle. Spent hours on the phone on hold & being pushed from pillar to post trying to find out what is going on. Cannot get to actually speak to anyone from RAC but instead a company they use called IMS who keep telling me the same thing continuously, that they are chasing the money. Seriously? 11 weeks to chase the money?! I will now be forced to waste yet more time by having to get this settled via the financial ombudsman. I would not recommend using RAC car insurance & would steer clear at all costs, they are not there to help you when you need them to after taking your hard earned money & you will be left with nothing but stress..
