Really bad service I had to scrap my car due to mot failure with at least 6 months left of insurance which I had paid upfront.
I telephoned Saga who said I could get a refund, then I received an email saying that their admin charge was almost half of the entire years fee! MOST UNFAIR.
A manager eventually rang back to say that if I get another car in the next 10 months they would take £50 off if I insure with them.

I am an OAP with a limited income and can't afford another car, THIS IS UNFAIR and brings this insurance companies reputation to a new low, what a disgrace.

Insurance was reasonably priced, HOWEVER following a small bump I needed them to make a claim against a third party and was unable to due to the ineptitude of the claims department. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS MOTOR INSURER, IF IT WASNT FOR THE WELL KNOWN BRAND I WOULD BE SUGGESTING THEY ARE A SCAM OUTFIT.

Overlooked my renewal by a couple of days, Saga would not backdate it. Renewal premium had rocketed by £60 from last year's despite having no claims for over 25 years. Was told by advisor on the phone that if I wished to cancel within 20 days a fee of £5 would apply, this turned out to be £5 + £25 + plus days already insured when I did ring them again with the intention to switch to a cheaper company. Been with Saga over 10 years, their motto of it being a cheaper insurance for well over 50s is a complete myth, and they hold no loyalty whatsoever for old customers. I feel I have been stung badly by them, definitely be looking elsewhere next year . Shame on them.

We had quite a bad experience with Saga Insurance Underwriters, we found them to be quite rude and very unhelpful. Initially they could not find a body shop Toyota repair centre in or around the Birmingham area? The nearest on their list was 34miles away and they refused to collect the car.
If we went with someone local outside of their listed contractors they would not provide a courtesy car which was included in our Policy with Saga. We had several conversations with Saga but they were not very helpful. We will not be renewing our Policy with Saga due to the unprofessional way the claim has been dealt with.

I would not recommend Saga to my worst enemy. They are incompetent and their internal communications are entirely non-existent. I really hope I never have to make a claim; they aren't even capable of setting up a simple car insurance policy without making numerous errors.

We have recently changed to Saga for our car insurance as the price was very good, we have not (thank goodness) needed to claim for any damage so I cannot comment on that. However when dealing with the call staff I have found them very helpful and polite. I would recommend giving these a go.

Used SAGA for two cars over many years. Initially, premiums were very competitive and customer service was excellent. However, despite never making a claim on either motor policy, the renewal premiums for the same cars began to rise very significantly. I think SAGA were taking advantage of auto renewal and trying to sneak in massive rises, hoping their customer wouldn't notice or challenge the increases.


Well, they were noticed and were challenged - resulting in a small reduction for being a loyal customer. However even after the reduction, it was easy to find alternative motor insurance offering the exact same cover for well under half the price. Result? This loyal customer bought motor insurance elsewhere. Lesson? Don't let insurance companies take your loyalty for granted. Use price comparison sites and vote with your cheque book.



Hopefully, SAGA will eventually get the message and start treating "loyal customers" with more respect Might then give them another chance.

Biggest scam ever experienced. Took out their insurance for home emergency. Very quick to take your money. But when it came time for a claim, they stepped back and pleaded ignorance, claiming that a third party uses their name and provides the services and thus they are unable to assist. Third party turns out to be none other than the AA and they turned out to be just as devious as SAGA and started delaying tactics then sending their inspector 10 months later, to be told the emergency leak was to be paid for.
Now SAGA, have played a cunning ploy. The same home home emergency policy can only be taken in conjunction with a SAGA home insurance policy. Double slam dunk by SAGA.
Thank you SAGA, thank you for robbing elderly customers of their hard earned income and delivering ZILCH.

After a driver turned right into my car I think I've spent virtually everyday on the phone to saga , I had dashcam evidence which they told me to pass on to another company, called Claimsfast , then TOWERGATE wanted the dashcam footage I said claim fast had it they said Claimsfast wouldn't give it to them , then I was told Claimsfast didn't have the video anymore, I rang Claimsfast they said they did have the footage, you are just passed from pillar to post, still not sorted out , it's a lot of "who shot John " just not true.

I insured 2 cars with Saga and achieved brilliant value for money coupled with a low excess. I tried to insure my daughter's car as well but she is only 34 and they only insure those aged 50+ nevertheless I really liked dealing with them because there was no series of menus to go through and I was immediately connected to an advisor via an 0800 number. Good people!
