Have been reticent to explore health insurance due to thoughts re affordability. Saw ad. in my travel insurance website re offer of health insurance. Tentatively explored. Tim Morris insurance broker followed my exploration with phone call. Absolutely no pressure discussion re my possible needs ensued. Listened carefully, made assessment and directed me to Sharon Boorman from Saga Insurance. Again no pressure. After eliciting health history Sharon provided clear explanations of possible policies. I asked for a quote and again no pressure to make decision. I opted to think about my preferred option overnight providing time to discuss any issues with family. Made decision, informed Sharon and with Saga’s 3 month no payment bonus, and my current good health status, I now have affordable health insurance and peace of mind should any medical issue arise in these uncertain times.

Whatever you do think twice about this insurance company. My Mum and Dad's car insurance is renewed every year. They signed up with Saga as the deal looked very good, but they realised that they could get a better deal with Dial Direct - £200 cheaper. Initially the policy was in my Mum's name, normally it is my Dad, but because she drives the car more, she decided to have it in her name, but was then told that because it had been in his name for a few years with her as an additional driver, her no claims bonus had expired, so it would have to be in his name to claim that, so it was switched over to his, but four years ago he got a speeding ticket and three points on his licence, which after three years can be taken off, and not affect your insurance - but they said that because it wasn't five years ago, it would cost an extra £200.00. So the policy was then cancelled and altogether they were charged approx £60.00 even though they decided not to take out the policy and cancelled it within the 14 day cooling off period. Think twice before using this company, they are a total rip off.

Behaving like a back street tin-pot insurer

Don't you believe it. Incomplete repairs, quibbling over rectification of incomplete repairs, multiple phone calls to people trained in the art of obfuscation and sloping shoulders. I've been with Saga for years, never had a claim and now I'm being treated like the dirt on their shoes.
An absolutely appalling company - all shiny at the front but awol when it comes to fulfilling their obligations.

We have long since gone to a professional insurance company, and will steer away from your door. All the pensioners taking out new policies, at what they think to be very good premium, should consider the most important issue of 'if they have to make a claim' what is this companies track record like? Read the feedback, and don't say you weren't warned. Taking the premium is one thing, paying out is a completely different one. Sorry Richard Smith, not impressed at all with Saga, or should I say A RIGHT SAGA of a COMPANY.

Worse insurance company i have ever been with & I'm 61. 4 months to resolve & I'm out of pocket by over a £1000 in an accident i was totally innocent in. Pay a bit extra & go with a company more competent & more professional just in case you need to claim.

My father was involved in an accident. The day after the accident we gave SAGA all the information they needed and Saga arranged for the car to be collected the next day, which it was. Monday came and my dad's curiosity car turned up, but the garage that was going to repaired said they hadn't got the car - alarm bells were ringing by this point. A tow truck had come to collect the car on Friday the day after the accident and I'd handed them the key because it was expected. Forty minutes passed and despite being told by SAGA they hadn't arranged or authorised the garage for the vehicle to be collected they confirmed it had been collected and was with a completely different garage. My dad was stressing and I was stressing as well. Completely useless, I won't be using them when I get to that age and my dad will be using something else after this episode.

On the 5.10.2019 I was stopped for no Insurance and issued with a ticket to produce within 7 days.

Reference my Schedule at the time advised XYZ (reg Number) - however you have issued the certificate in 123, vehicle therefore shows as uninsured and not on MIB or polica data base.

I Request an updated certificate (You can't back date them)(unbelievable) which shows cover from 6.10 - This is no use as I have to prove cover was in place and on that plate on the 5th or prior too.

I'm then informed a letter of indemnity can be provided but, 'can take 6 to 10 days'. In the age of on line policies which are provided in seconds 'surely' the required letter (which must be a template) can also be provided equally expediently - given it's your error in the first place? "We'll ask for it to be sent recorded" - but when??? I can't use my car and have a clock ticking before a summons is potentially issued against me.

I've now called three times spent over an hour explaining this time and time again and am no further forward - 'managers' won't or don't take escalation calls' or ownership at any level to resolve this.

Given your technically in breach of contract by providing the wrong documents and you seem both totally unable to grasp the policyholder predicament I am in (no car for 5 days) or do anything to resolve the matter swiftly. I have taken my option to raise this with the FOS and would welcome your timely response and solution before tomorrow 3pm Thursday 10.10.2019.

All I want is a simple letter(or email copy preferably) that shows YOU insured the car under the above registration prior to the 5.10.2019, how hard can it be??!!

Totally at a loss for words and thoroughly disappointed with the service which I shall share in social media channels and a wider audience unless I get a response to resolve this

We were getting really high car insurance renewal quotes, and tried Saga who beat them all hands down. We didn’t sign up straight away after the quote as we went on holiday, and when we got back the quotes were all even higher, even the Saga one. But when we phoned them they honoured their initial quote even though it had expired. It was great customer service.

They say loyalty doesn’t pay, well that’s certainly my experience with Saga. I have been with them for 4 years and seen a steady increase in premiums on each annual renewal, but this year it was ridiculous. I have had no claims and this year the cost has jumped from £845 to a whopping £1284. I asked them to check if there had been an error with the underwriter who confirmed this was the new premium. I got competitive quotes from Direct Line, Privilage, John Lewis and NFU, and amazingly the highest quote was £721. I went with NFU as their excess was the lowest and because they’ve won the top spot in Auto express for 3 years at a cost of £654 including breakdown cover. I have a number of financial products with Saga, all of which I’m withdrawing due to this experience.
