Stay Well Clear of Santander

The worst bank and customer service on the planet! I have had a lock placed on my account and the reason they gave me was that i have used contactless payment too much. Now considering i have spent the last 3 weeks in Singapore and never use the card as i dont want to pay their extortionate rates. I transfer from the bank to Wise. Now they have blocked it and tell me i have to buy something in Singapore and put my pin number in to release the block. Its the only way i can unblock it! Santander are a joke and i shall be closing the account down because of this. Complete failures! still waiting on the line for the fraud team to unblock this bar and been waiting over an hour so far. i am stuck in Singapore without access to my money. An overall winning account

Despite increased charges and lower interest, as Martin Lewis continues to point out, this is still a great account with excellent service and facilities. The online banking app is superb and the new money insights offer, just brilliant. Reviewed on: 17th February 2021

Awful bank, terrible service

The world’s worst bank is at it again, attacking graduate overdrafts during a deadly pandemic and global recession. Their app is awful, their stores are dirty and ugly, and their staff are untrained or incompetent - and I don’t know which is worse. Reviewed on: 2nd February 2021

One of the worst banks

This is one of the worst banks in the world. Their customer support has no interest and knowledge in managing customers and the phone calls repeatedly hanging, so get ready to wait a very long time. Even if you do get a hang of them, they would lie to you, so you cannot believe anything they say. They'll tell you, here is a person who will solve your problem and this person would just promise to call you later, but wouldn't. Moreover, as other people wrote here, they apply many obscure charges to your account even if you want to close it. I have never seen anything like that. I am sorry that I did not read these reviews before I opened the account, but hopefully, this review will help other people. Reviewed on: 19th October 2020
