Free legals cost £1200!

SBS offered mortgages to older people so we were interested. We asked for less than 40% LTV. They asked for an exhausting amount of extra financial info, including about two other investment houses we own. Once started, SBS were surprised to learn that we lived in England despite having had that info for months. As a result they changed the free legals to a £250 contribution to our English legals, which were £650. Once in process they insisted on a further legal form which had to be administered by a lawyer, costing a further £600. Mortgage completed 5 months after initiation at a net legal cost of £1000. Extremely relieved to find a mortgage lender who considers drawdown pensions

My experience of trying to obtain a mortgage using one of my drawdown pensions as income was disappointing and very worrying. I felt that my plans of buying a retirement bungalow were not going to happen, until my mortgage broker found Scottish Building Society. They were happy to use my drawdown pension along with my works pension as income and offered me a retirement mortgage that is affordable and flexible. Remortgage Application - quick & easy

I recently remortgaged to Scottish Building society and also took additional funds to consolidate debt, I was turned down by other lenders but SBS look at the bigger picture and were able to help. Great customer service throughout and I am glad I went with SBS!! Reviewed on: 29th December 2022

Excellent Mortgage Lender

Throughout I have found them to maintain excellent communications. One major thing that stood out to me was when you call the bank you are connected to an advisor within minutes and they are pleasant and very helpful.
